Default Difference between Stock Rev Limiter and MSD 6al soft Rev Limiter?

I was bounced off my rev limiter a few times last night and was curious what is the difference between the stock rev limiter and the one I have, which is what comes with the MSD 6al. Is it just that the stock cuts fuel and the MSD cuts Spark. I have read that hitting the rev limiter is fine for n/a cars but not good for FI? If this is the case, is it ok for FI cars that have soft rev limiter or at least safe for turbo cars to bounce off of it as opposed to being harmful for turbo cars with stock rev limiter that cuts fuel?

I've been wondering about this too. Everyone here seems to agree that spark cut off is better because fuel cut off could make you run really lean for a few cycles. However, in Corky Bell's book Maximum Boost (not saying its accurate, just quoting), he's talking about using a pressure switch to make a boost limiter, and he says to use fuel over spark. I've also noticed that the RX-7 uses a fuel cut off as well for boost limiter. So in conclusion......I have no idea!

the difference is this... when you cut fuel, there is no fuel... just a spark.. a spark by itself is not enough to do anything. so you arent "super lean" you have no fuel. which simply makes no explosion.

so having no fuel is not the bad thing, it is having no fuel with spark that is bad? so which would be better cutting the fuel or cutting the spark, or they both are fine?

I think in the grand scheme of production car, cutting fuel is better.. if you just cut spark, you'll have all that unburnt fuel coming out of the tail pipe... that'll probalby kill your cat converter relatively quickly and the gov't certainly won't like the environmental implications...

...cut all the fuel, and there is not rich nor lean... there is no combustion... in which case there is not a problem...

damn this is what i hate about message boards (they still rock, its just this one thing) ........ last time I asked this everyone said w/o a doubt cut the ignition, now everyone says fuel. so again, i have no idea.

we need someone who knows knows, without any doubt, what the right way is.....
