Critique and Criticize my setup PLEASE!
Hey Turbo Gurus! I have a potential turbo setup for my R that I would love for you guys to critque... Anything you think I should add let me know, and anything you think I should remove let me know.... I plan on boosting 18lbs max for the strip... But the most part, for little street races and such 14-15lbs... What do you guys think of my setup?
- Drag III Turbo Kit
- J&S Safeguard Ultra Version 2
- Thermal R&D 3" Turbo Catback
- JE SRP Pistons 9.0:1 Compression
- Eagle ESP Connecting Rods
- Apex'i AVC-R
- Greddy Turbo Timer
- RC 550cc Injectors? (bigger size or no?)
- Tial Wastegate
- Arturbo 3" Downpipe
- Hondata Stage 4b
What clutch would you guys recommend too?

Re: Critique and Criticize my setup PLEASE! (1 FAST R)
I have a clutchmasters stage 4....it will take you a few months to get used to it...I would recommend a stage 3 unless you plan to DO ALOT of Drag Racing. Driving in traffic with stage 4 is a pain..almost 3 months later im finally used to it.
Set up sounds good. My criticism is to get Crower instead of Eagle rods b/c I was going to get the Eagle until RACE engineering told me the Eagle rods have sometimes slapped the side of the block and sometimes need to be shaven down....Same thing goes with the SRP pistons...they cracked on two people I know get JE. (i know JE makes SRP but theyre not the same thing). I dont know why you need the J&S Safe guard spend the money on tuning instead. I dont know why you need the Stage 4 Hondata....Stage 3 will do the 18 lbs you want. Injectors might be too small go with 750 cc you will never need to change them again. I also wouldnt get a AVC-R. I would get a manual boost controller for like 50 bucks. But if you got the money then hey why not?
Spend lots of attention on the head...SS valves, dual springs, retainers. I broke a valve b/c the stock springs were too soft...piston smacked the valve and broke it sending it into the chamber..at only 9 lbs. What happened was good-bye motor at only 25k miles!!!! THE VALVE TRAIN IS VERY WEAK. I have a turbo GSR by the way and already bought the JE pistons and crower rods.
Hope this helps...of course this is my opinion I know others will disagree but Ive had turbo in my GSR since 1997 I think that counts for something.

ATC A-14XTSS awesome grip, and smooth engagement.
So3 burner: You think that 550cc injectors won't be sufficicient for 18 psi ? Someone else feels the same way?
