Default check valves

I know what check valves do, make it so your map sensor doesnt detect boost, but I dont know where to isntall them and I dont know what they look like. I know i will need them on my custom setup I am working on, but I was hoping you could fill me in on the process. I heard you can get them at the fish store, but where else can you get them?? and what do they look like? any help would be great!! thanks

you can can better check valves from NAPA. I don't have the part # but if you're lucky you might actually get a customer service rep that actually knows what they're talking about. the check valves are placed between your map sensor and the port located on your manifold where your map sensor was previously located. This is done using various vacuum tees and small pieces of vacuum line.

I think you should seriously consider picking up "the missing link" its a much more elegant way to fool the map sensor compared to using standard check valves. Standard check valve setups are not very reliable at all.

I paid 8 bucks, and I've never had a light, and everything seems to run fine. The check valves are the way to go if you're trying to save for stand alone like me, and don't want to buy a missing link that you won't use in 3 or 4 months. The missing link is better especially if you are going to use them long term. Check valves are fine for short term though.

Go with the missing link. Looks so pretty being chrome! Haha. No but it really looks alot better than all those check valves lying around.

Actually, missing link is not that great for long term either. The missing link are to be cleaned every now and then, and somehow after cleaning, they just don't performed as well. I have used both the missing link and the check valves, and I actually find the check valves perform better than the missing link. A lot of ppl have inefficient checkvalves configuration, leading to check engine light and such. My check valve configuration ( copied from Heretic), is as follows

never hesitating between vaccuum and boost, and never a CEL either.

I have my check valves set up like 98lude shows for over a year no problems. Don't buy pet store check valves they will blow out get them from an auto part store. Spent under $10.

Boost coming out of the TB will hit the 1st check valve then 90 to the 2nd check valve then 90 to the 3rd check valve then 90 to the 4th check valve then 90 into the map sensor. The other way of putting 3 or 4 check valve tee off in a row from the TB to the map. The problem with that is boost can blow past the valves it a straight shot.

yeah I called napa and they said that they have several of them. so i found an old search that said to go with the Echlin part # 2-970 from Napa. so I called napa and they said that they have 1 in stock at $9. well how many am I going to need of those?? I realize that a check valve from an auto store will be better, but i dont know what ones to go with. is there a way to make a missing link of my own?? I have access to a metal fab shop.

They are called "one-way valves" in most stores...

Calling them "Check valves" may confuse some clerks...
