boost creeping searched...
hey...i have a turbo ls with a 35mm tial wastegate. and a 4 lb spring until i get it tuned because im on fmu for now. i dont have a boost controller and i have my turbo fitting plugged up and i run vacuum hose from side wastegate fitting to the manifold. i never had a problem before with this it just started happening. it holds fine until i get to like 5-6k RPMs and it goes up to around 8 lbs. any clue what it can be?

yeah i am having the same problem with my 44mm Tial. It has a 1.0 Bar spring and it creeps to 19psi. And I have a Full-Race mani. so i guess it has something to do with the spring or diaphram.

Re: boost creeping searched... (EKsnatchback)
I read a lot of info on this.
Drag manifolds are known to creep because of the placement of the wastegate, its placed on only 1 runner to regulate boost. should have been tied in with 2 or more runners to help that part out.
or
Dont have enough back pressure for your wastegate to keep up w/ the turbo.
some other things cause it too. Here are some ways to fix it
Relocate wastegate (wouldnt recomment on a DRAG)
If you are running open down pipe i suggest getting an exhaust on there. (people with drag manifolds have said taht with 2.5 and smaller exhaust they have perfect boost levels, when they switch to a more free flow exhaust (3inch) they started to get creep
Larger Waste gate
i could add a lolt more but i am VERY tired and just thought id post back and let you know what i found out.
What is your setup exactly so i'll know more with what you are dealing with.
I believe I'm getting boost creep because im running strait 3 inch down pipe with no exhaust. lol So hopefully exhaust will fix my problems
good luck to you all, good night

Re: boost creeping searched... (JDM S1eeper)
i have a tial 35mm wastegate, drag manifold, 2.5 inch downpipe and 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust with racing cat. i have alse learned that when i race my car from 1st-4th it doesnt seem to creep so much as to when i would do like a 3rd gear pull. my friend had the same problem on the dyno, his boost was at 8 psi but would creep up to 10 lbs when he got in the higher rpms but since it was a pull on the dyno he is only hitting 8 psi when he runs at the track. i dunno if this helps anyone out. but i would like to keep this topic going because this should be solved.
