big boost (30psi)?
this is the dumbest thread ever.......you make 12k a year and your trying to pay for a 700hp car??? haha, i make about 50k-60k a year...and thats just a temporary job while im in college, I'm building a 300whp sohc. I decided not to be a dumbass and spend every penny i have a fwd economy car.
u can't even afford the motor, let alone everything else you need with that much power...you have any clue what carbon clutches are gonna run ya?

All I gotta say is I make enough to fund my hobby. I think I put close to 10k into motor alone. Turbo kit and all is another like 3-4k. Spent like 2k on standalone and stuff. LOL, this is sure an expensive hobby.

i agree go with a http://www.electricsupercharger.com/ much better then a turbo i promise

Ever try braking on black ice with no abs and slick tires? try replacing the brakes with big brakes, u think it makes a difference?
on FWD hondas the traction is bottleneck at 300+whp, unless you want to convert to an AWD
try starting off with AWD cars if you want to push so much power.
IMO, you better spend more time in building your character and getting more mature so that you don't have to have small d*ck syndrome with those V8 or trying to prove you're making good money as high school kid.

t88 hahah my friends stroker mr2 2.6l has trouble spooling a t78 kid stay away from turbo. you will eitheth blow it up or kill someone on the road. i put down 378whp and its useless on the street spins through 3. your be god with a d16 motor

AWD transmission + tons of hp/tq = gears flying everywhere.
why do you think most high powered AWD cars switch to rear wheel drive only? less drivetrain problems and weight reduction.

What are you talking about, I don't know anyone with an AWD car that's converted it to RWD only. For a DSM it costs in the neighbourhood of 3000-3500 dollars for a shep race tranny and center diff but after that your drivetrain is basically bulletproof.

err...then you must not know Brent Rau, fastest eclipse in the Midwest and possibly in the states. not to bust your bubble bro but he had an awd and now it's rwd.
oh and my friends over at ELITE AUTOSPORT here in MPLS ran one of those transmissions on their 670whp GSX and blew out 4th gear out of that tranny right before he crossed the line. he was able to muster up a 10.3 et though while blowing the tranny apart.

And a tube chassis 7 second all out car has a ton of relevance to a street car, too.
Let me guess, should we all be like Rau and convert our mild street cars to run on Methanol, too?

no we shouldn't but how long do you think an awd drivetrain will be able to handle the 600whp or so that everyone here is talking about? think about it

Shep runs the exact same trans in his race car, running mid 8's in a heavy car, shifting at over 10K. He's broken one transmission in the past few years. All but one of the 9 second DSM's I know of are running his transmission. A friend of mine on this board has been running the same shep racing tranny for over 2 years, and he's put over 75 1/8 mile passes on it, and over 25 of those in the mid/high 6's, not to mention dozens of street runs. If you want to buy into the stereotype that AWD DSM's have shitty drivetrains that blow the **** up all the time, keep thinking that.

never said they have shitty drivetrains, so please stop assuming. and i can see that you're getting heated...lol.
the tunning shop that i hang out at runs only DSMs so i know how bad the AWD DSM transmissions are. i don't have to argue with you about this...a lot of people know that 450+whp and AWD transmissions don't go too well together. everyone i've known to have more than 400whp on their AWD cars have always blown their transmissions. whether it be a DSM or Scooby.

my buddy joe (the white dude from area 51 LOL) blew out his AWD tranny on a stock motor. THEY SUCK.
