Default b16T Ramhorn Overheating?

Ive checked for air bubbles, not a blown head gasket, and the fan is on. i think the reason is lack of airflow though the engine bay, and the manifold runs right behind and is only about 1/2 inch away from the radiator.

It only happens with the bumper on, hot days, while over 2k rpms.

Things I've tried to fix the issue with: wrapping the manifold and dp with heat wrap; low temp thermo; making the bumper opening larger. none of these have fixed it.

I need some advise on what might fix this issue. maybe a cooling plate between the mani/rad or something? i can take pictures if anyone might think they have an idea...

its an oriellys 12 inch electric fan. the fan is a pull type so its on the back of the radiator.

That was my Q also I have a ram horn and had the radiator very close to it with a slim fan mounted out front and car would overheat I pulled the top of the radiator a little towards the front of the car so I could put the fan back on the back side and overheating went away instantly

so, the verdict is...buy a 10" fan for the front?

also, something my uncle mentioned is. that when a radiator is left sitting for a period of time, it can start to corrode fairly quick, and hurt its cooling efficiency. can this also contribute to my overheating problem?

those relacement fans at autoparts stores do not pull enough cfm to "efficiently" cool the engine, trust me i know i used to have one.

Is your fan just hooked up to the factory wiring, if so cut the wires, and run it to an in-cab switch. Leave your fan runn all the time, and if it gets to cold then just shut it off!!

make sure the fan is wired properly. i mounted my car quest 12" fan as a puller but wired it as a pusher, that caused me to overheat while sitting at a red light. and im still n/a at the moment, but will be boosted soon. once i re-wired the fan to pull air, overheating issues went away.

this could also be true, ive had friends who have had this problem.

buy a good slim fan from one of the h-t sponsors. i think most of the slim fans sold on this forum are about 1600cfm, whether it be 10 or 12".

i already have the fan wired on all the time. so thats not the problem, and it is pulling air, not pushing.

Do not put another fan on the front.

did your autozone fan not cool at all, or it cooled the motor but just not enough?

i got me a carquest 12" slim fan for FREE from a buddy, and was wondernig how it would hold up on a boosted motor, as im not boosted right now, and i believe my fan is rated @ about 800cfm as well..

so far its doing good for now considering the triple digit weather that has been going on in my area...

It wasn't enough without having the heat on all the time. Summers with heat on blow big donkey nutz.

Save yourself the headache and ditch that fan.

i have my carquest 12" slim fan mounted on a fluidyne rad, but i doubt that would make a difference, or does it?

i may ditch the fan later, and then purchase me a 1600cfm rad...

I had the same problem with my ramhorn. Everytime i hit boost i would overheat until i started moving again without being in boost. IT was all on a stock radiator. once i changed to a fluidyne and pusher fan never had a problem since. Hope that helps.
