Default Another GM 3 bar Map Sensor Install Question ! where the hell does it go.

hey all i know a while back dustin had a pic of his 3bar GM map sensor plugged up on his car... god knows what the url was...iv seached his http://rely.net/~dustin/ site.

but im just wondering where the hell does a GM 3bar map sensor go, and which sensor does it replace.. iv looked on the hondata website that shows / talks about how to wire it up correctly... but i think the install notes forgets 1 think.. where the hell is the stock map sensor that the 3bar gm sensor replaces... iv searched my engine bay for a connector that looks like the GM connection with no luck..
also that little intake pipe on the GM 3bar Map sensor, im assuming thats where a vacuum line goes yeah ? but from where...b/w my car is a b16a2 crx (del sol) if that makes a difference.

Regards James

um, the GM 3 bar map sensor replaces (drum roll please) the stock map sensor . It does not plug in or mount like the stocker. It needs to be run to a vaccum/boost source.

oh ****, that's easy.

On 91 and older motors/cars, it's located on the fire wall.

On 92+, it's located on top of the throttle body. Black sensor, three wire plug going on it.

Wire tie the sensor to the fire wall. Then have a vaccum line from the sensor to a port where the stock sensor used to be. Or just make a plate where the stock sensor used to be and t-off one of your lines on the manifold. Did that answer your question? Email me if it didnt...

Are you sure you should be installing this? I've said it already, it does NOT plug in to the stock harness. You have to cut the stock plug off, and wire it into the pig tail harness that you need to purchase . I won't walk you through this any further, you need spoon feeding

You can find those pigtail connectors at any Pepboys or Kragen. There is always a section that includes gm connectors. Try next to the trailer-hitch and tail-light converters.

Actually the pigtail connector is no-longer stocked at Pep Boys in Arizona(don't know about other states). It's a special order item now that takes 7 days. Guess how I know this? I just called GM and gave them the part number for the 3 Bar, they gave me the part number for the pigtail and I ordered both. The part was a little more expensive, but I was able to buy it that day and not have to wait for Pep Boys. To bad I couldn't use it that day. Oh well, just thought I'd share!
