300hp recipe???
Hey guys, on a stock b16 what is the minimum that you would need to hit 300hp.
I'm not saying having such a small turbo that it can bearly make 300, just one that would be best fit for 300-350hp. And without saying oh your going to want more hp so you better go a bit bigger...
Also what manifold, I'm assuming a cast log manifold would do but you tell me...
And then what size injectors...
I'm not saying I want to "cheap out".
I do know that there are many other parts to a turbo set-up... but these are the main things that provide power.
E-bay is not an option, quality must still remain. Price is important but not so important that E-bay would come into play...
With the saying "Cheap, Fast, Reliable" I'm choosing Reliable And Fast, without going crazy overboard...

Re: 300hp recipe???
Is that 300 crank or wheel HP? I'am assuming you are boosting, the b16 has a pretty high compression stock to boost reliably on pump gas to that level, lowering to around 9.5 cr would be ideal, so some pistons and rods should be first on the list. Use your stock head, intake, ignition, 2.5 inch exhaust or bigger, hondata s300 would be nice, but theres some cheaper fuel managenent, crome, neptune, turbo edit,etc... As for turbo t3 t4 at least 50 trim up to 60 trim, or gt28r gt30r, or precision equivalant .63 or .80ar hot side depends on how you want your power to come in and how big to want it, bigger ar=laggier turbo but higher total hp. cast or nice tubular manifold. @300hp there both good, just how deeps your pockets. 450cc injectors would be a minimum 750ccs would be better.

Re: 300hp recipe???
take a look on my dyno graphs..
the engine was stock with cp pistons 9:1 compresion and eagle rods.everything else was oem.
the turbo is GT3071R with .64 hot side and .50 cold side and the exhaust is 3" staright
the car on 7 psi is 275 HP and on 13 PSI is 350 HP

Re: 300hp recipe???
the GT3071R is a BB turbo right??? and its quite expensive like $1300 expensive...
how about a garret t3/t4 50 trim with a .63 hot side... there more reasonable in price. But are they comparable in performance???

Re: 300hp recipe???
So I had a stock b16 on 12 psi for like a year as a DD which made 310whp and would have kept going strong. I had 750 cc injectors that will get u way over 300. I had a 57 trim precision turbo. Think they r like 400-500 new now. Capelable of 450. I got a ramhorn I don't like the looks of a log but will still get u to 300 no problem but if u have the extra couple hundred way worth it. But honestly you can slap any decent turbo kit and make 300 on a b series.

Re: 300hp recipe???
this set up really only has to last about a year... Going to be slowly building another b16 threwout the year. But still want to have fun now... 300 in great falls montana is enuf to take out pretty much every single last car that around here... and I know that around 450 things start to get hairy when it comes to stock block... so 300hp in my eyes just adds a bit of security... and yes I am fully aware that ITS ALL IN THE TUNE... just how my brain works...
