* New to the BOOST world
Hey guys, Im new to the boost world I am planning on boosting my b16 over the winter, its more of a budget build I was thinking just doing an ebay turbo kit and other little things of course im going to do new rings, bearing possibly piston ... 68mm tb and an intake manifold aswell ...
just wondering i only want to run about 6-8psi, is a stock b16 safe to do so? and what kind of power would I be looking at and also for an EBAY turbo kit what are some things I NEED to change to make it reliable i.e turbo, intercooler
Thanks guys

If you are trying to get started then yea I would say buy the ebay kit, re-enforce the manifold cause they usally crack do to the weight of the turbo and how cheap they are. Then go from there man! Start buying beter **** for your setup like a tial 38mm wastegate and a good tublar mani, and a good engine manegement system. Do NOT cut corners like not replacing the stock fuel pump, buy some good injectors, most importantly do not run around on a fmu and missing link man you can run 12psi safely on a bone stock b16 just make sure you take it to someone who has experience tuning man. People will tell you do it right the first time, take your time and you will reap what you sow.
thats another thing on my list as well, a walbro or holley pump(whichever i find cheaper) and injectors aswell and i will prob get a buddy of my brothers 2 custom make me a manifold if the price is right ...i only wanna run 8psi MAX! and yeah tuner is #1 thing!
You can find combo's all day for a walboro 255lph and precision 680cc injectors for less than 350 bucks which in my eyes is a deal man, good luck and pm me if you need questions awnsered or need help bro!

Your turbo will most likely **** on you too, I have heard running a restricter helps them but I dont know for sure..only thing I would ever get off ebay is the intercooler and piping..
But to each his own...get the injectors and the pump and a tune and replace the manifold at least and you will be running for abit.

You can take a totally stock B16, assuming its in decent condition (under 100k miles), and make 300whp perfectly safe with a good tuner & turbo kit. A dohc vtec pump can make around 300whp, all others are a problem for 200whp. A 190lph pump can get you to 400whp, and the 255HP to around 550whp. The difference is NOISE!!! I found out my car came with a Walbro 190lph, and you can just barely hear it. The 255's however whine like a PMS'ing bitch. Injectors should be at least 500cc or larger. Some over 750cc have kinda bad atomization/spray pattern, so don't go overboard.
Best way to make an EBAY turbo kit last - is to leave it in the box. You can use the IC piping, couplers, clamps, and BOV, but the turbo, mani, and WG (in some cases) are usually toss-away peices. You dont buy adult diapers and **** yourself, so don't do the same with a turbo kit.

Oh boy..
Oh boy..
Don't even bother with an ebay stainless tubular manifold. I welded brackets on each of the runners with really strong steel and it cracked in 3 days(one of the days I didn't even drive it) You can usually find a decent log manifold for cheap and it should flow better than the tubular manifold. Just remember though, you are going to spend $600 now on the kit, but you are going to have to probably end up repurchasing nearly everything in the NEAR future. So it's up to you if you really feel like wasting that $600 now.
