300-350whp setup. Spend money on LSD or s300 for boost by gear?
Alright, I'm looking to do a little build- my previous setup was a b20 with 250/220 and while it was fun, lack of traction was upsetting.
I'd like to do a little 3-350whp setup and want to either spend the money using s300 for boost by gear, or using a Ls transmission with LSD. What would offer me the greatest gains?car would otherwise be tuned with Crome.

Those that know me would say to invest in a good limited slip differential like a Quaife or clutch type LSD. The OEM lsd trans doesn't work in the same way that the Quaife of Kaaz would.
Boost by gear is ok, but it doesn't help if you can't control the car under ANY boost condition. Crawl before you walk.

Good input. I have a tranny from a car I parted out that has an obx LSD. They definitely aren't the best, but should work for this setup.
Any other inputs?

Whatever you decide... don't do that. lol
Honestly, 1st and 2nd are going to be toast even with boost by gear, as a proper turbo setup is going to make ATLEAST 220 wtq. You won't have THAT much fun with an LS trans. So I'd recommend a GSR trans with an LSD. Then further on down the road, do boost by gear.

Boost by gear on a setup that makes less than 600 isn't worth it to me. I have seen and
driven cars that are fine without it. LSD is the best thing you could do at your power level
for traction help. On slicks and good driving you should barely break loose in 2nd so no
need for boost by gear.

boost by gear is awesome even on lower power setups......helps out tremendously if you have decent tires.
LSD is good...but you will still roast both front tires in a straight line with or without LSD. LSD helps (kinda) around turns....but with allot of power to the ground you will still smoke the tires even around turns and end up in a ditch somewhere if you are not careful.

nytosc, what tires did you have? i had an ls-t making 240/215 a while back and it would catch in 2nd gear with bfg kdw's if i didnt hammer out of first real hard. 1st is useless regardless.
last year i ran bfg drag radials and it would be good to go for the most part in 2nd gear and up with 350whp.
honestly, dont overlook the obd lsd. the one in my trans has been in 3 cars over the past 4 or 5 years, all making between 400-600hp.

I'm making 265/248 on my ls-t and with good tires I get traction in 2nd. Pulls like a mother.

To the OP, I just got my car (LS motor and tranny) tuned with ECTune which offers boost by gear. I made 306 whp/270 tq on a mustang dyno at 19psi, but only have 1st and 2nd gear at 12psi (about 250whp). Traction is still an issue, but I am running Yok AVS-100 tires and do not have a LSD or traction bars yet. I would recommend looking into ECTUNE because it is quite a bit cheaper than s300 and then down the road get yourself a LSD.

If you want traction in a honda, get better tires. period. Whether you run an lsd or an open diff I bet you will have no problem sticking 300whp on M&H 235/60-15s.

Boost by gear and the ability to ramp the boost using a PWM controller are essential to any turbo fwd setup....more so than LSD IMO.
BTW my particular car gained 4-5 mph in the 1/4 mile going from an s1 LS tranny to an S80 GSR tranny.

Limited Slip Differentials
You want either a GEARED LSD (like Quaife) or Clutch LSD (Kaaz or Cusco) depending upon use of the car. JDM LSDs are Torsen, and though they work, only when the wheels are slightly turned and not for use really in a straight line with the torque that is given by most turbocharged setups.
