I like you too Harv (damn that sounded kinda gay). You are one of very few people on this forum that I have found that seem to actually understand the reality of nitrous and how it works. Most everyone I run into don't even know enough to know that they don't know. Not that i'm claiming to be some kind of expert, I was merely fortunate enough to learn from some of the big dogs in the industry an now know just barely enough to realize that I have not even scratched the surface. All the nitrous talk has been a lot of fun. This is actually the only thread in my watch list on HT.

I sure wish they would make a designated nitrous forum though, it would make it a hell of a lot easier to find the nitrous threads instead of having to look through the drag racing forum, NA forum, and FI forum. Oh well.

Hey Harv, did you ever decided what you wanted to do with that system of yours?

that's why most of the people who mess w/it and scatters there motor
into a million pieces....always want to put the blame on the nitrous....as the
fast and furious would say...nawwwwwzzzzzzzzz.

plain and simple nitrous doesn't blow the motor the tuner does.....

yes i am gonna let you plum it.i don't have the patience to "imagine that"
i am just waiting to come up w/a little extra cash is all.i am gonna have to have
my cowl cut out and widened for it to clear.it only liked 2 1/2" so close but yet so far away.

What amazes me is that people can actually blow their engines up with small amounts of nitrous. If you lift a ring land or melt a piston down and are running a ragged edge tune for heads up racing that is one thing. But to cause that kind of damage with a 75HP tune is just plain stupid. You pretty much have to make a kindergarden level mistake. Ive read of tons of people running a 75HP tune with no timing retard, yet you will almost never hear of anyone running 7psi of boost on a stock engine without any kind of timing retard. It amazes me the kind of crap people try to do with nitrous that nobody would ever consider doing with boost. Oh well, a drag race also requires a loser to be an actual race.

Whenever you want to do that system, just give me a call.

you have no idea how many pm's i get a day asking if it will be safe to spray a 75 shot... if you have to ask that then i would say its not safe for that person.. like you said. very little people take the same precausions with nitrous as they do with turbos and get upset when they have a nuclear melt down... speeking of a nuclear mellt down i think i might have hurt my turbo car tonight.. i was getting on it really hard in 3rd and 4th on the high way and all of a sudden no power.. pop the hood and the #1 injector clip broke some how...cylinder #1 is now dead. i'll figure out what happen tomorrow.. cant be too bad. motor is quiet and isnt smoking..

If the injector just shut down your engine should be just fine. I had one of the metal electrodes pull out of the injector plug once on my turbo car, that was all sorts of fun to figure out.

i have a question...

hypothetical...
on a 4cylinder, if you follow the recommended timing retards... and have a good a/f tune (wideband verified) ... how much can you pull out of 91-93 octane ? 75shot? 100shot ? 125? 150 ?

or do you guys run race gas with these setups?

we've made 125whp on 91oct (dynojet). not what i call a safe tune though. a little over 75-100whp is definately safe with 91oct.
