They can afford it. And they have the skill to drift. Those who can't drift use crappy tires to practice first. Once they've acquired the skill, they buy the tires.

any type of racing costs lots of money. Racing in general is not cheap.

Sounds like every track weekend for me, except add hotel and brake pads.
