Paint Maintenance
Scott, I'm going to attempt to show the differences between a single stage polish and multi step. A "wet sand cut/buff", and what ever else I can think of.
only real issue is it's just a tail gate and I might run out of room. lol
Unless my dad will let me play with his car, but who knows.

Just run tape down the center like I did on my Ranger hood. That should give a large enough surface area for you to work and show the difference.

I'm going to take my S2000 to a different place though. They'll come to me if I want as well.

My buddies Element looks super fresh a year after it's detail, and he barely washes it lol
Wash
Claybar
Polish
Wax/Sealant
Wheel and Tires
After that is done for the next few washes:
Wash
Dry
Quick Detailer Spray
Wheels and Tire cleaner
I wax my car more often because I have the polisher but if not I wouldn't do it as often either.

I've got 4 vehicles. Ain't got no time for dat. However, it sounds a lot better than a 10409329 step process. I don't mind dropping money on a polisher, I just fear I'm not going to use it!Thinking about a foam gun, because the other cars are going to get more grit and grime and I can definitely see how a longer soak would really help out.
Foam gun it fun lol...
For the S2K I would spend more time then the others... ok maybe a little on the BMW too. Once you do it a few times it will take less and less time as you will get quicker at it...

thinking about ordering some additional things from chemical guys.
the air fresheners i bought work great. (bought orange extreme odor eliminator and mangocello)
the orange isnt very "citrusy" but i think it is made more to eliminate odor and seems to do a great job...will try it further in my 08 when I have it back(slight smoker scent inside)
the mangocello smells awesome, it is a sweet smell with a little hint of citrus. I sprayed 5-6 sprays on my carpet and seats two days ago and it still smells great. it seems as if it will last quite a while. im interested to try a few other scents from them
on that note, i wanted to see if anyone has tried their lava luminous glaze? its 70 bucks but if it works like it says, it will be worth it to me.
*edit* the blacklight glaze looks like a good option as well at half the price

Dave, you really don't need to clay the car that often unless you have road tar, or something on it.
my car might get clayed once a year for example.
Rota, Opti-coat that thing and be done. That mint, it's going to be worth spending the money now to keep it that way for a LONG time to come.

Yea, I'm gonna talk with Built Hatch about his guy and see if he knows anyone up in this area. If I decide to keep the car, it's probably a no-brainer.
But once we do our addition/garage, I'll be looking to put a Yellow NSX in it lol

if all my money wasn't tied up in this 5spd conversion, I'd be buying stuff too. lol

I hear ya. I figure I can do some work for a few people and recoupe some costs. I feel like I got some quality and quantity for $200 though, so I cant complain
I've been doing with family friends. I've made money back a few times over again after buying all my stuff.
If not I would probably clay my car once every 2 months at most!

BMW's opti-coat thing came out awesome on our new X3. We'll see how it holds up. I would have a photo...but it got dirty the day after it was done. I'll wash it with the foam cannon once this cold trend is gone next week and report back.
How do you guys like to go about cleaning the top of SUV's? Still a mitt? Just use a step stool?
I didn't order any wheel cleaner from Chem Guise, but I probably should have. Or should I just snag some Sonax off amazon and call it a day?
Need a good tire cleaner too, my RS3's need some lovin.

I've felt the need to clay that often. Easily been a year since I did it last and my paint is smooth as a babys ***.
granted I don't track it.
BMW does Opti-coat?
anyways, what I do at work is either use a stool/later, or just open the door and stand on the jam.
Some guys use a brush, but you can't really get into the corners, or under the racks that most SUV's have.

They have their own version of it, same concept doe. I don't recall their $5 term for it and don't care since it was free.
We don't have anything geeky on the roof thank god. I have a few new body brushes that should do the trick then
