Oh the carpet and mats are fine and very clean. It's all the plastics and vinyl on the a-b-c pillars and the headliner that are my biggest concern. Door panels, dash, trunk and side panels are all mint and very clean. My seats are clean, but they have this weird shiny spots on them. It's hard to describe. I'll have to take pics and post them up after work.

Do you guys use a squeegee right after washing? Yes? No?

 

No, California waterblades will leave scratches. Chamois will do the same if you dont ckean them often. I use an extra large microfiber waffle weave towel and compressed air to get water out of hiding spots.

I use a water blade.

I have been looking at other options though.

 

blade is an unnecessary risk imo. you can't get into crevices and you can get that flat surface sort of water off with streaming alone. streaming water prior to drying makes a huge difference. you want a pour-like action from the hose vs. a spray. just kink the hose with your off hand until the water is smoothly coming out of the hose and "dress" the car with water from the top, around the sides, etc. it'll take most of the water away just by default, ESPECIALLY if the car is polished and coated or sealed or waxed. it's really scary how dry a polished and coated car can be if you stream the water!

to blast wheels quickly so the rotors don't rust while i'm drying the rest of the car, i pull it in and hit the wheels on low speed with an electric leaf blower. that works well to get the wells and tires dry too.

then i use a Mothers drying towel to take up most of the water on the car and finally Cobra guzzlers if i'm using something as a drying aid. you can use so many things as a drying aid, i'll go into it if anyone cares. lastly, i'll usually just go around the car with the blower and get the crevices empty and dry those spots with the Mothers towel.

imo it's very important to have a clean space if you are using the blower. i use it on low speed but if there is dust and dirt everywhere it'll blow around.

 

I use my rigid wet dry vac. Takes all the water out of the mirriors and doors and most of the water on top. Then go over with my mothers waffle weave.

 

Built, very true. I'll give the steaming a try and see how it works out the next time I wash it.
I have been looking into trying some other towles. Right now I'm using griots garage towels to dry it.

Now that I think about it, my brother has a metro vac somewhere around here. I'm sure that would be enough to dry it.

A few 80 mph rips up and down the road, come home and wipe up the drips/jambs, and call it a day lol

 

My foam cannon has pretty much added a step to washing IMO. I'm going to try it a few more times, but it's not going well.

The soap/foam ran right off, even at lowest water setting.

I'm using the chemical guise hose attachment unit. I need to *** with it some more this weekend before I write it off, but I washed the BMW without it the other day and it was glorious.

Took a lot less time lol

 

put more soap in it, or adjust the amount the cannon is using.


I have the griots thing, and it worked fine until the damn nozzle broke. piece of crap. lol

Alright guys, time to bring this thread back from the dead. I really haven't had time to post anything worth while.

BUT, I need more wax. I've been using Dodo juice blue velvet pro, and purple haze pro. I loved it! Looked great, water beaded like nothing i've ever seen before. Durability was pretty good too. Price isn't crazy, but it's not exactly cheap either.

Right now I'm looking at Dodo supernatural, or the supernatural hybrid, however I'm up for suggestions.

Or I may just given in and either order Opti-coat, or C.quartz.

 

Have you tried any of the CG waxs and sealants Matt?

Btw Matt do you know how to take concrete off of paint? I parked my car and I guess they were doing some construction and I have 20 little spots to remove. Some detailer I spoke to that my friend knows says to just use my finger nails. I would rather put a product that can break it down and just wipe it off instead. Do you know of anything?

 

I haven't but I have looked at them. I am actually thinking about picking some Carpro Hydro 2, although I'm not really sure yet.

There's a product called Backset, that will dissolve the concrete. I've also heard of people using vinegar and water, or straight vinegar to do it.

 

Or maybe Carpro reload. Damnit. Too many choices!

also I think I'm going to have my brother grab the griots version of the metro vac and start blow drying it.

 

I'll try the vinegar and water in a spray bottle and see what happens...

I'm really neglecting my car cause of work. The concrete has been on for a week now and I just can't get enough time to try to do something cause I'm working these weird *** shifts temporarily.

I might try some dodo juice wax... I'm waiting on pay day and doing a small little order.

 

From what I'm being told it only takes a little while to do it. something you could do on lunch, or just wake an hour early, or something.


I'm waiting on payday as well. lol I've talked to some people and it really looks like I'm going to go with Hydro 2. I also might grab one of Carpro's dry me crazy towles.

I really like Dodo wax. I used the Blue velvet pro, and purple haze pro. If I don't go with the Hydro 2, I'll be getting a sample pot of the Supernatural hybrid, or the Supernatural wax.

 

Update! Finally picked up Carpro Hydro2.


Will post some before/after pictures. Not sure if I am going to any polishing prior to or not.
