what I am saying is, I would much rather get a polish from meguiars mirror glaze line opposed to a watered down polish that is offered at auto parts stores, ya dig? They come in 16oz and 32oz containers. Now the detailer line of cleaning productions obviously is overkill for a normal person since it is havily concentrated and comes in gallons.....however at $19 a gallon is beats paying $7 for a 16oz bottle of cleaner...............

20bucks for a gallon that will last for god knows how long, you can always split it with some buddies

theres a paint and body place, caliber collision, always has bmws and nice cars out front i ussually go by there, maybe i'll stop next time

LOL I have Megs entire detailer line basically and I havent made a dent in them.

However, it cost me about $100+

 

I use the professional car shampoo. Almost out of it though. It smells great too. Kind of like men's cologne.

 

If you are willing to spend $75, Bissell's Green Machine works great for cleaning carpet, much better than a shopvac.

I've used the Green Machine though. My mom has one. I've thought about buying one, but usually find other things I'd rather use. I don't really have anything I need to clean in my own car and it's not used in anyways that would normally lead to it being needed.

 

ive got a steamvac w/ attachments, and that oreck canister thing that picks up bowling *****, and a (heavy expensive *** chrome)kirby with some turbo lookin thing that fluffs up the carpet too

off topic: what do you all use on your tires, i was using armor-all extreme gel (mom bought it ) and its like soaked into the tires, i havent "done" them in idk how long and they're still lookin good, and yup its rained too and i've washed it a few x since last time too

oh and how's that hyper dressing workin for you

AND anyone used more of the stoner products, theyy seem pretty damn promising

yea, I was being off topic. It took out alot of dirt that my shop vac never took out. I like it. Untill I get enough money for a real extractor

When claybarring.. I dont need to dry the car first right? But its needs to be moist where I am doing the bar right? should I just fill a bottle with water or get some spray on detailer or what?

i would dry the car because claying takes a while, you dont want water to dry on the car and leave deposits, even if you are claying.

 

So I just picked up some products to blend my touch-ups and remove some of the light scratches on the clear. All of these products are going to be used by hand, so I don't know if I went the right direction or not with these...

I'd post another thread for advice on touch-up paint. That would make it easier to find through searching in the future too. It's not exactly detailing. It's more akin to paint repair of sorts.

I do know that you shouldn't follow fresh paint with wax.

I use the Yellow Wax, but prefer the NXT wax for ease of removal (it's also advertised as Meguiar's longest lasting wax).

Oh, and I prefer foam applicator pads myself.

And NXT actually doesnt last as long as their yellow wax, despite what their advertising says. it is a very glossy and easy to apply wax, but have very poor durability.

if he is just doing touchup paint and not an entire paintjob, waxing the car probably isnt going to hurt anything

 

I've had no issues with NXT. I'd say it lasts just about as long as the Yellow Wax does.

it is great wax and is rediculously easy to apply and remove, but it definately doesnt have the durability IMO.

most really good and glossy waxes dont have very good durability, but an unbelievable shine.

 

i agree about durability but i love it for an off the shelf wax.

what does everyone think off wesleys bleach white for tires? i really like it because i hate that armor all gloss look and wesleys is dull but really clean looking

 

I bought some liquid NXT about a year ago just to try it out. It went on my own car once, and that was the only time it was used on my car. I tried it out on a few other cars, but t doesnt last worth anything. I will say that one time that I used NXT I topped it with #26 and it looked veryy good. My durability wax is Collinite 845 Insulator wax, though it does look great too. Fixing to order some Duragloss 105 for the customers/family members I only see like once a year.

 

How long are you all expecting wax to last? I've never had a problem where my car (which usually uses NXT) doesn't have wax on it because the wax hasn't lasted.

well, it all depends on where you live. Down here in South Florida, the sun burns away wax rather quickly.

I've been using it since when I lived in Delaware. The other two guys saying it doesn't last long live in Kentucky and Harrisburg, PA.

well I dont know. My experience is that is doesnt last long along with others at autopia. Most good waxes, dont last long. usually the more gloss, the less durability.

Either way, it is indeed a great wax.
