okay i just finished mine but its not as shiny as i would like it is it the wax or the polish.. which makes the car shine more.. i couldnt get that nattys wax in time whats the next best thing
the polish is what brings back the life of the paint, the wax adds a bit of depth/reflection and protects the shine.
what color of paint are you working with and is it just straight color or does it have flake/metallic?

After looking at this thread last week, i went out and spent about $80 on products to detail my car; i've never done this before but this POST MADE ME! i appreciated the results right after the long hours of claying, polishing, and waxing till the sun went down. I have a white car luckily so it was easier (i guess).
The only problem i have now is that there were old white streaks on the black trims before i even started. This is a used car so the previous owner must of left the white streaks. I took my time and read all of the thread but there wasn't anything else said about this problem.
So how do i go through the painful process of cleaning the streaks off the bumper? i just search on the web for any help but it looks like a lot of people seem to be posting about how to give the rubber a better shine vs. getting the wax off it?
Well maybe i'm just new at this but any suggestions? Thanks, i'll try to post pics later.
Also i had a new "spray" wax from meguiar's that seems to look like water... not sure how to use this and if it's any good. I just used the wax from the meguiar claybar kit mostly.

i usually use 50/50 alcohol to get off moldings and trims.
as for the spray wax, its just used for touch up on a CLEAN surface. i say clean surface because there are also sprays called quick detailers that have way more lubrication than spray waxes. quick detailers are just what they sound like, they have cleaning capabilities and can be used as clay lubricant because they have tons of lubrication. spray waxes are just like regulars waxes, the finish must be clean and prepped and the sprays are used for "touch up"

cool, so if i spray it down every week after i wipe the car - this is prob what it's used for? After the initial wax of course. And from the instructions, all i do is spray and wipe off, there is no need to wait huh?
I just tried the alcohol and it seems to be working, but man it REALLY is a pain to get off.
After applying the alcohol to the trim with one side of the cloth i used a clean spot on the same cloth to start rubbing. I found this useful to prevent from re-applying the wax you just rubbed off.

yes for the spray wax, just spray and wipe. i would still recommend to use a quick detailer over spray wax, but thats personal preference.
dont forget to put something on the molding/trim after you get the wax off, the alcohol can tend to dry it out and increase its chances of faiding. just put some cheap protectant on it that is not silicone-based
