Default Need serious help

need some help, I have a Alpine cda 7893 HU, I recently purchased a Jl audio 500/1 amplifier to run my 2 jl audio 12"w3's, now the problem is that before I even turned my car on the minute I hooked up the 12v wire to the amp my radio and amp came on?!?! yea wtf is that? I mean yea it worked great with the subs and it sounded perfect but I don't want to disconnect my 12v wire everytime I get out of the car to keep my battery from dying, and if I try to take the face off the radio my subs make the frickin' loudest humming noise in the world lol, really annoying, I think the guy that orginally hooked it up, a co-worker from circuit city when I used to work there did something screwy with the wires. I'm not a complete newbie to car audio but I also wouldn't work on anybody elses car, which is why I'm a little scared to just go in and gut it if you know what I mean lol, I'm wondering do I need a stronger fuse, because I did have to replace one that I blew, is the wiring bad, or should I just bite the bullet and get a new radio, any info you can think of to help me is greatly appreciated, don't worry If your stumped on this I might just take it to tweeter, I just really want to learn how to do this shyt myself. THANKS!

The problem may be in HU or amp or wiring . If wiring at amp is good [12v+ at poss.,12v- at neg. "ground" and amp trigger at turn on] Try this, remove amp turn on wire at amp, hook up amp 12v+ , is amp on? if so amp is DOA, if not, test amp turn on term. on amp [with test light or volt meter] should read 0 volts, if there is power on it amp is DOA. check that you have good grounds on amp and HU .hope this helps 94

Slide out the deck and look for a solid blue wire...is that the same wire going into the amp at the remote terminal? Did whoever just run another power wire seperate strait to your amp? If the amp works and the subs bang then your amp works fine its just a wiring mistake

40 dollars, to rewire everything and replace a couple of things that were orginally screwed up with my orginal installation from circuit city, all I know is my stuff hits like crazy now and I'm pretty happy with it, I used to work with this guy at circuit city, but he didn't do my original install, I now wish he would have, but anyway he's gonna build a box for my trunk which I can't wait for.
