I put a few drops of syntec down the plug holes before I turn it. I have been told the assembly lube used when it was built will stay on all the journals until it is flushed by hot oil when it is fired up for the first time.
I do wish there was a way to pressurize the oiling system easily before turning it.
Hopefully I am maintaining it correctly, I guess I will find out when I install it.
If anyone has experience in long term longblock storage I would love to hear what they do/did.

you guys all have me thinking, I am ordering this from Amsoil and will apply it through the spark plug holes and oil filler cap.
It should do the trick.

my brand new C5 short block has been in my room next to the bed for over a year. wrapped and taped in heavy clear plastic then covered with a car cover bag, sitting on a furniture dolly. never turned and wont ever be until it goes in the car.

your's will be fine.

read up on the old school hot rodders web sites. some of those guys who own original hemi cudas would have a lot to teach you on engine storage. may even try www.corvetteforum.com and post in the c1 or c2 section. that's what i would do anyway. talk to rich people who have many toys and store them. chances are they know just how to do it

The Spoon motor is just a hype. There is nothing special about it. It is basically a reworked JDM ITR motor. There is not much more to it than your regular ITR motor. It looks pretty but thats where it ends

from what I remember, spoon motors rev to over 10000 rpm. I'm not positive but the spoon cluter has an 11k rpm tach which i'm sure they added for a reason

crate engines sit on shelves in warehouses for years and there is nothing wrong with them. as longs as it is protected from moisture and lubed with oil you shouldn't have a problem

Are you guys really serious? Its a nice motor and all, but is it REALLY worth the 7k, because for that price you can do a serious b series build. As a matter of fact, 7k is right around what you can build a K for. Maybe a little more, give or take.

For that price, it is definitely not cost effective.

We're in a recession here guys, and youre thinking about buying $7k motors...lol. Stick to what you have and build it, not only will it be nicer, but also cheaper.
