Re: Spoon crate motor

Info from inlinefour.com's website says its a factory engine disassembled, balanced and blue printed and then reassembled. Engine is designed for endurance racing. The only thing not factory is the the 2 layer head gasket.

I would guess slightly (2-5 HP)more than factory HP figures due to balancing and head gasket.

Re: Spoon crate motor

i agree... No more than probably 10hp tops. They are made so you can run them wide open for a long time and will never break though. Reliability > power

Re: Spoon crate motor

you should check out kingmotorsports.com, they are not spoon (official mugen distributor in north america) but offer crate motors that they build in house. Im not sure and to lazy to go look but I think htere b16 puts out 200hp. You must provide your own engine and then they rebuild it i believe.

I'm going with or not. At this point I believe you would cease to function w/o a flawless crate motor still boxed to tend to :)

hehe.. well the current motor is running strong and only burning a quart every 500 miles. Why mess with a good thing?
maybe the least I should do is install the new valve seals, maybe a DIY is in order for that.

so if the gains are in the balancing of the internals then what is the redline gain on a spoon motor

would heavily depend on what VT is in the head. i have no clue what all spoon did to those motors. someone should write up a list just so it's on here.

Not much more than stock. Spoon motors where used for FIA Group N racing which forbids modifications or extra power adders. You are better off just building what you want if you want power. If you want a balanced, blueprinted engine that will run a race season with as little potential maintenance as possible then get a spoon.

Very true! I just had to give ya some shit. I loved all the guys hatin' on you for not installing it. They just say that because they wish they had a perfect crate motor sitting in waiting.

I didnt see that but I just want to know if that has been maintained all this time or not. If it hasn't, will the crank still turn by hand?
