UPDATE*

So after waiting a bit to make up my mind I figured why not, I figured I'll go ahead and just get it over with and get the motor installed at the shop that was charging me $1800 and call it a day. I didn't mentioned to you guys that I have an ITR longblock just sitting back home (Texas) which I originally planned to swap once I went back in April. I'm stationed in SC at the moment, and the car/import scene here is as dry as your grandmas vagina. There are two performance shops in the local area which I've been told have a bad reputation.

Getting to the point, you guys were right. This shop was ****ing with me. They went from giving me a quote of $1890 drive out price to $1800 for JUST the long block with 82K miles and now the total coming out to $2300 WTF?! lol or ... if I wanted the motor with 135k for $1200 not including labor. I didn't even bother bringing up what he quoted me the first time. I just told them I'll think about it and would call them. Mother****ers!

step1. get that ****ing thing outta there
step2. toss a t belt water pump and tensioner on there in accordance to procedure but only to the point that the t belt is on, and you can check compression manually
step3. check your compression manually. if all seems well, reassemble in accordance to procedure
step5. drive the car to the shop and drop a thick smoke show in front of the bay door

step5 is extremely important. reason being is that when customers pull up to the shop and see a dense patch laid in front of the door, needless to say, they're gonna be less than impressed

LOL o well. I'm glad I stopped by the shop instead of just calling them over the phone. They did install a new timing belt on for me which ran me $280. I did this the same day the belt broke off. Just so happen that my car broke down .5 miles from their shop lol. The situation I was in at the time seemed like a good idea to have my car towed there.

The car does run like **** for sure, loud knocking and rattling noise coming form the motor when I start her up. Also when I accelerate the muffler seems louder than usual and I can feel a bit of extra push everytime I step on the gas pedal like it's running very rich. At at stop light the car idles at 2500 RPM for a few minutes then drops drastically to where the car wants to shut off but i catch it before it does. In all I know they weren't lying to me about having a couple bent valves, that part was obvious.

The good news, I did find someone who will install the motor for $500 and I'm supplying the motor which I'll be getting from hmotorsonline.

what year is your car bro?? Because the swap should be real short and easy for models like 1997s, possibly back to 1994s too. It really shouldn't be so pricey. I'm in Hawaii, even with shipping it's not that costly. So what's your year??
