Honda Civic Drag Build Receives Sticky Slicks and New Problems

By -

Promising track day turns into a epic fail on every level. Thus, this turbo Civic does a little testing on the streets.

For most of us, track days are pretty much the same. You get your car ready, set it on kill, and throw on some sticky tires, and then, you just hope for the best. Or at least that you won’t screw up. Which is pretty much how things were going for YouTuber HunterTuned and his turbo B20-powered Honda Civic. Heck, he was even smart enough to rent a trailer just in case something went south. Well, that and so he could also break in his turbo’d Chevy truck as a tow rig.

At the track, he cranks up the boost and hopes for the best. But then, disaster. “Last night at the track definitely didn’t go as planned,” he admits. First off, his buddy’s car developed a nasty case of rod knock. Then his Civic only got to make a single pass thanks to a massive crowd trying to get their fix before the end of the season. That singular effort didn’t go too well, either. “On that pass, I started digging into the slick real bad. And it was super scary. I couldn’t stop.” Heck, we were scared just watching it.

Still, an 11.20 at 131 mph ain’t bad. But the tires are obviously a little worn, and the fender seems to be cutting into them. Not the best way to end the day, but that doesn’t mean our Civic owner can’t have a little fun before winter strikes. “I’m just going to raise the car back up. And I’m going to go play out on the street with it a little bit with the slicks on it. Cause why not? We’re just going to go beat on it. Cause I don’t care right now.”

And that’s exactly what he does. Bouncing off the redline, this turbo’d Civic looks like one heck of a fun street toy. But in the process, our host was able to sort out his suspension problems. And now, we just have to wait and see how the fruits of his labor pay off at the track!
