Re: Change your power steering fluid!

Yeah I've used the Prestone Honda PS fluid without issue. If the bottle didn't say it was for Honda/Acura then it's not for Honda's and can cause pump problems.

Honda's are picky with most of...

Re: A/C troubles and a hello!

Cold weather means dry air so you only need heat to defrost, no need to run the A/C. Here's how to disable the forced A/C when defrost is selected.

1) Have the car turned off.

2) Turn the "air...

Re: Before I go to a mechanic.....HELP!!!

You won't get anywhere pulling the ECU.

You need to rent an OBII scanner from the parts store and check the car for codes.

Re: 2001 Civic HX Clutch

I'd stick with OEM bearings for the transmission, they will most likely last the rest of the car's life. You won't know what bearings are bad until you get it open, I'm sure the ISB is the one...

Re: 04 Civic Overheating - Or so the gauge says so?

It's true that D17's have a terrible record with HG failures and they can be very difficult to prove with 100% certainty, I just don't think this case really fits.

The car is not going through...

Re: I'm stumpified on bubbles and coolant push to reservior

I would do a leak down test, use a lot of PSI though, at least 150.

Re: Rad empty, over flow filled to cap. . . Not over heating ??

Just check the overflow+radiator once a week and see if you are going through any coolant.

Re: Rad empty, over flow filled to cap. . . Not over heating ??

No bleeder valve.

Best way to bleed the system is to park the car on an incline so the radiator is the high point. Let it cool off, take the radiator cap off and fill up the radiator. Start the...

Re: Rad empty, over flow filled to cap. . . Not over heating ??

How much fluid did the radiator take?

I wouldn't mess with the sensor.

Could be a radiator cap preventing the coolant from moving back and fourth between the radiator and overflow. Cheap...

Re: 2001 Civic HX Clutch

A high bite point does usually mean the clutch is worn but it may take awhile until it starts slipping. You can adjust the rod the pedal connects to and get it biting lower, some say not to mess...

Re: Possible jumped timing, procedure to get to TDC without (further) damage?

When cylinder #1 is at TDC so is cylinder #4, same with #2 and #3. So if the "UP" is at the bottom, the #1 cylinder should be close to TDC if it only skipped a couple teeth.

Take it apart and...

Re: Possible jumped timing, procedure to get to TDC without (further) damage?

Well the "UP" is straight down it looks like so cylinder #4 should be at TDC. The crank rotates 2x for every revolution of the cam which means the crank should be close to TDC if she only skipped a...

Re: HELP! Weird problem with car

That fuse that keeps blowing under the hood, are you sure it's not the "BACK UP" fuse? It's fuse #9 on my Civic, 10A. Prob the same on yours.

I could not find a "BACK LIGHT" fuse under the hood...

Re: HELP! Weird problem with car

Did you check the alternator bolts? Check all 3 just to be sure.

I highly doubt the foglight wiring would cause the ECU to fry. The alternator is connected directly to the ECU so it can monitor...

Yeah I mistyped...ECU....ECM....PCM....people call the computer different names. I'm not sure what the difference is to be honest.

All you need to match up is your transmission and motor. The...

Re: HELP! Weird problem with car

Since you just changed the drive belts make sure the alternator bolts are tight. Loose bolts (usually the long bolt) can fry an ECU. You can try wiggling around the alternator and see if it moves,...

Re: 2002 Civic EX timing belt?

It's actually somewhat common for the long alternator bolt to loosen up or break and fry the ECU. The alternator doesn't use a ground wire, it uses the case, which grounds to the bracket. If the...

Re: 2003 LX no pilot bearing??

Automatic's don't have pilot bearings.

You will need the pilot bearing and flywheel off the old motor.

Duralast seems to make the worst aftermarket parts IMO, main reason I don't shop at AZ...
