JIC FLT A2
Has any one used JIC fltA2 as chioce of suspension?, Wanted feed back on using these as 80% daily driver, 20% track use. Is it damaging to the car or just harsh?

id do a lot of reading/research and make sure you know what you're going to be doing with your car. People need to do alot of research and understand when they buy a product, dont just go on specs and the price to determine if it's worth buying. Don't buy a product because it's top-of-the-line or JDM. Buy the product that is BEST SUITED for your specific build. (i know you Ron
)
Been doing some research on here, and hear GOOD and BAD about JIC. But i'll try to help ya out!
I keep hearing their Customer Service is EXTREMELY horrible.
(Albeit this is really a separate issue from actual function/perfromance of the prorduct)
I also here that JIC's break/malfunction
(according to JIC, these are the 'older' models that do this).
In the end, i guess it all comes down to your opinion/preference.

I went with the A1 setup because they will be used 90% for daily driving, and I would not have really used all the adjustments on the A2. (my car is a 00 Civic)
Mine came in the other day and I have yet to install them so I cannot give you a review...but I am sure after I get them in and have them corner balanced I will be awestruck.
In my opinion, the A2 is really too much suspension if your car will be used mainly on the street.

1) they are NOT streetable. Well maybe they would be on the smooth freeways in Cali, but unless you feel like breaking the upper strut mounts on your car, I would not use them over in Jersey where there are more potholes than smooth roads.
I had Jon K at Ziel motorsports (JIC USA) in Downing CA custom mine with slightly stiffer springs, 10k/7k vs the standard 7k/6k but I still think that even with the standard setup, the pillow ball uppers make the ride way too harsh.
2) for those interested in racing, this setup is amazing. Although they have maybe an inch and a half of shock travel, the shock body is really thick and has great handling characteristics. The valving matches really well and with 15 levels of compression and rebound adjustment you can set it up really well.
I had mine set up for maybe about 2 inches down all around, but if you want to, you can lower the car an additional inch or more and still have the full stroke of the shock.

had TEIN HA on before and that rides 100% better..had a few problems with the TEIN HA leaking oil thats why i decided to switch..
i would have to say in my opinion that the FLT-A2 is probably better for the track only and not for the daily streets..

When i get my insurance money and a new car, JICs will be my 1st purchase!

I think it depends whether or not your planning on auto-x.
If you're going to the track, I think you might want to go w/ something better than Tein SS, which (in my opinion) is mainly for daily street driving and light track use. I called up Tein and they told me to go w/ type-RA's if going to the track often enough. The Tein SS is good, but it doesn't come with the upper pillow mounts.
Did you look into Endless at all? I believe the Endless B-6 or S-6 is superior to both Tein and JIC as far as quality. http://www.endlessusa.com/esto...ge=s6.
Ive seen all 3 brands of coilovers in person, i think the Zeal/Endless Coilovers appear to be the best. I think i'm going to go w/ the B-6 myself... sorry, hoped that helped somewhat.

Yeah, that was an awesome response, lots of good info! Personal taste, these aren't good for daily use at all. Had a friend with the JIC's and they weren't comfortable for daily use, you could feel a dime on the road it seemed like.
they are valved very stiff but as was stated are great for competition. i personally vouch for the crappy service as my gf used to work for them(no she wasn't part of the crappy service, she just did what they told her to.) in other words good luck on getting any support without having to pay a premium.

yes the ride is a little harsh for a daily driven car... i have had them on my car for a year or so now and the car is daily driven... not one problem.. i love them... great coilovers...

1rst After reading all the links and info and opions, It seems that customer service and quality are on top of my list. It is absulutely clear that JICUSA needs to sell there rights to distrubute in United States. It is obvious to me that you cannot advertise revalving shocks and selling custome spring rates in US if you dont have Shock Dyno. I Know currently that Hondata will not give you rights to sell its software without a chassis dyno. Aem also will not give you rights to sell Ems with out a chassis dyno. How can JIC in Japan give rights to sell its shocks to a company that has no shock dyno or the rights to revalve. It sounds like JICUSA is all about money but not about its Product. Those who have had them or have them that said customer service is great, That is bonus to you. But the other customers where screwed over. Any company that builds its empire by screwing customers, which is majority present, should not succeed as a company. I am an advid honda fan just like the rest of us are. And due to that would stay away from All JIc Products. If one gets screwed all should stand up and aviod all products from that company, This would force a change. Maybe JIC Japan will Find a different company than what is JIC USA.
2nd I Thank everyone that has responded to my post.

I will be looking at ZEAL coil overs and Tein.
Another Idea I may consider is Tokiko Aluminas with custom spring rates. I would go with koni but I think you have to raise the car to adjust the shock. If this is not true, then let me know, the tokikos are adjustable from top of strut. The negitive thing on going this route is not able to corner wieght. If I went will ground control I think you can only corner weight by raising and lowering the spring perch, which may effect suspension travel. I am trying to aviod that. But IF you know of a spring company that supplies custom springs that would be a great help.

sorry for not responding lately,5 spywares to remove and two trojan horses. almost crashed my computer. Took a while to kill trojans.
Iam considering H&R coil overs, but have not considered Nuespeed. This may be not correct thinking, but I have impressions of certain companies do really good with there core product.(I.E.) Holy for fuel pumps and carbs. AEM for fuel rail, cold air intake and engine management, Nuespeed for Strut braces. H&R for coil overs, Tein for full coil overs. That may be the reason I would not consider the NUespeed coil overs. But IF possible, I would like to corner weight without sacrifice to reduce suspension travel. The full coil overs I am interested in has independent adjustment for corner wieghting than for ride hieght.
But I would consider a simple coil over with custom rate springs to ad to my Tokiko 5 way. To simplify and If funds are tight at the time. But I know when the finances are good I will end up with a high end full coil over setup.

the endless suspensions aren't bad, and the customer service at endless is awesome. however, you're wrong about the koni's adjustment--depending on the model, most if not all of the koni yellows are available with adjustable rebound adjusted on top of the shock rod (like the toki). the illuminas however, i doubt their effectiveness with stiffer spring rates above 450#/in. The koni yellows can effectively damp about 600#/in of spring before they themselves need to be revalved.
alot of people running stiffer springs get the konis revalved at any number of places to the "SPSS3" valving, which damps up to 1000# of spring, and use them w/ ground controls and custom rate ERS springs. Another koni option is the koni 3011.
what you ultimately decide on using depends on how comfortable you want the car in daily driving situations. if the car is daily driven, then off the shelf koni yellows and custom rate springs should be fine, rates on the order of 450F/550R or similar.

This may seem odd but I prefer a punishing ride for a daily driver just to get that extra when I am at the track. The only concern on the higher spring rates and aggresive shocks is what it would do to my car damage wise. But I remember when I was looking for shocks about 3 years to 4 years ago, the deciding factor not to go with konis/ not sure what model, they had a turn **** on the bottom of the shock. At the time I was a newbie to hondas and wanted a hassle free set up. so I choose the alluminas over the koni,s. But the basic Knowlege I had, I knew konis where a better shock. Koni Yellows may have been different to what I was looking at. I remember that blue and yellow was the color.
But anyways, I appreciate your info on the alluminas, so If go for H&R coil over with custome rate springs then koni yellows will be my choice of shock. This will also be cheeper than what I will eventially end up with down the road. The spring rate sound real good. I do want a little rotation on tight corners, with my lsd, that will make for an interesting ride on the road coarse. Thanks again,

have you looked into PIC suspension? they have excellent customer service, shock dynos for their products and i can vouch for the product. i have PIC selects with custom spring rates on my ITR. excellent ride quality and it is more than capable of autox and lapping days. I have yet to bottom out the suspension and i live in a city that has absolutely terrible roads and potholes.
