Good reading in here, though the tech talk regarding welding went right over my head.

damnraz ....... I will have to pick you brain for some advice in the coming weeks as to Tigwelding Ti ????

Had to read this post several times as I have some little welding project coming up.

CVC9216 ........... that link to the Large Diameter Clear Gas Lens Kit For 9/20/CS310 is very nifty idea for purging the outside weld.

cheers

tip: cut down the throttle body, it'll give you much more room to work with. i cut down my friends with the traction control and saved him over 2 inches prolly, it'll be easier for you.

Already informed him of this earlier. Appearantly it is not about function, but about bling.

Only problem is, you are not going to get the bling-bling rainbow affects around the welds of CP-Ti. It will look like brushed stainless, like in the pictures of the plate above. You can always take a torch to it for the rainbow look, but it isn't easy, and can become an expensive mistake.

But hey, to each their own.

It may be heavier but its a hell of alot stronger so you can get away with using less of it which equals a lighter product.

I have ordered from Titanium Joe before. Roughly $20/ft for CP2 2.5”x0.025”, and they ship quick!

Really? Can you define “hell of a lot”?

1ft of 20gauge 2.5” 6061-T6 Aluminum tube is about 12% lighter than 1ft of 2.5"x0.025” wall CP2 Titanium tube. Density * length * Cross sectional area.
