How much did u guys spend on custom intercooler piping?
Ok well ive started piecing together my kit and i wanted to wait to purchase piping as soon as i got the car(97ls) i was originally going to buy revhard piping from afterhourz but there price just went up to $405 with clamps and couplinks. It was $355 total and since i have the greddy type S it already comes with the flange.
Im just looking to see how much total you guys spent on your piping including clamps and couplinks?
Im trying to cut back on cost of kit. I figured this is somewhere i could save some $
thanks guys and (girls)

that's about right actually. i spend liek 450 on mine because of some extra piping and the types of clamps and conenctors i have to have for 27 bs of boost.

Re: How much did u guys spend on custom intercooler piping? (oscarmayer)
i was charged about 250-275 by a muffler shop (but first i must mount i/c, have couplings and clamps)....
and from a "custom race parts fabricator" (or something) like 450-475 (this included mounting i/c, all couplings and clamps, a turbo intake pipe and filter and bov flange)
im still using my ghetto piping!

Heh, I spent less than $50 on pipes from JCWhitney, Bulk radiator hose as coupling and clamps. Works like a charm and with some rattel-can, it doesn't look shabby

I used to sell it for $250 with a jet hot coated charge pipe... plus shipping. People were all over it for that price.

If you get the piping done at a muffler shop alot of times the price will depend on what kind of piping you get. If it's mild steel then it will usually be around 200-250, if it's stainless, and the muffler shop has to Tig weld it (more time consuming) the price will go up. Also if you get the edges beaded, that costs a little extra as well.

Hmmm.. Lets see, for my custom intercooler piping I think I spent around
$150 on pipes
$100 on Transition hoses, connectors, and clamps
Give or take about 20 bucks.

U guys are crazy spending $200 plus on piping. Just go to JC Whitney buy piping for $70 shipped and call it a day. Go to vecco.net and buy couplings/clamps, like $50 total, there you go $120 for piping, just cut and have a buddy weld.
http://www.cse.uconn.edu/~yele....html
go here and by what he tells you to.
You want budget build you gotta do more of it yourself to save the cash.

I got you all beat. I got mandrel bent aluminum pipping with couplings and clamps for $99 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1
I just threw away the filter, cut off what I didn't need and ran it to my intercooler. My compressor goes straight into my intercooler so I dont need any piping there.
the pipes weight about 1 pound total.

Re: How much did u guys spend on custom intercooler piping? (WuShu)
yeah, I was kind of nervous that it was going to be junk, but it really is aluminum.
I'm going to have to cut it a bit because I have the edelbrock intake manifold, but I'm very happy with it. It is super lightweight.
that guy sells them on ebay all day long, I bet if you bought 2 you would have all the piping you need and maybe a little extra if you need more on the compressor side.

good idea on the gay *** front mount intake.
Most people would still need a little more piping for the other side of intercooler.

How many lbs of boost will these JC Whitney setups hold? I want to be able to run 25lbs without blowing off a charge pipe. What connectors would be best?

i just went with reinforced nitrile rubber since its cheaper and black... going for the sleeper look. I got it from road racing engineering and they said its better than silicone is some cases because it can be exposed to oil compared to silicone.
silicone or reinforced nitrile rubber would be my suggestion. If ur worried abut blowing off charge piping then id recommend beading the ends so the connector will hold better. T-clamps too

JC Whitney tubes wil be fine, couplings would blow off first.
Go here:
vecco.net
He has good prices on couplings, I've been looking for a while and found he's got the best pricing.
T-Bolt clamps are about the best for the price. There are "Turbo clamps" that have springs on them (like where cat meets header) to make them hold better but they are $13 each. T bolt are only about $3.50 each.
I would buy 2 12" couplings, cut them yourself (that gives you six total). They come with T-Bolt clamps so that gives you four clamps. Buy a couple more T-bolt clamps and your done!!
