What are you guys currently paying for all of your flanges ? head flange/WG flange/Trubo flanges ? i am curious cause IF you guys arn't cutting them out yourselves, I was wondering on what the pricing is. I am getting mine pretty cheap and felt like sharing. ALL flanges are 1/2" thick so no warping while welding.

I get them for $20 for the head flange, $16 for the T3 flange, and $11 for the Tial style wastegate flanges if I order 3 sets or more. That's $47 for all three plus $20 shipping for up to 6 sets of flanges. Mine aren't 1/2" only 3/8" but really clean laser cut steel, havent had any problems w/ warping as long as I do about 1" at a time on one runner, then move to the opposite end of the flange and go back and forth like that.

I'm paying about the same as reno and mine are 1/2" I sell them for a couple bucks more then I pay.. Figure if I make a buck or two off them it helps others and covers my time picking them up and selling.

ya, but you aint getting engraved ones, and my shop is flooded w/orders from me, so youll have to wait for non-engraved ones. If you are doing a DIY manifold, I would look into lazer-cutting, very economical, and functional.

ok, well I have been kicking around a couple of ideas for a while now and after having a few beers through monday night football I have decided to go ahead and post this.

It has been discussed in the past about a welding forum being introduced into H-T, I instead think that there should be maybe a whole DIY forum of H-T. This way we could have sections on technique, Q & A, machines, a for sale section specific to parts for parts, maybe pictures where people could show off their wares and the section could probably be sponsored by one of the well known welding experts or a company like miller, dewalt, makita, etc, etc. Of course whoever the moderator is for this forum would have to be strict because of certain demonstrations in the past from certain individuals who let their emotions tie into their business, but I honestly feel that a DIY section will help everyone out there willing to do their OWN work.

Th only reason I bring this up is because after following this thread from WAY before the beginning(this thread did begin because of several other threads) and I feel that there is demand enough to do something like this. If nothing else, to organize the questions that have already been answered.

I seriously would like to know what everone here thinks of someone like this. I mean seriously, if its a bad idea, its a bad idea. I want criticism as much as praise because I would like to propose this to a administrator sooner or later.

Lets all start chanting it!!... DIY FORUM, DIY FORUM, DIY FORUM!!

Def a good idea, especially for us welders so we can share techniques and not be off topic in forums like FI.

Welp, heres what Art had to say. He has a point, oh well:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Arturbo (2:08 PM 11/11/2003): Cody,

If we made forums for all the request we get, honda-tech would have forums for just about everything. Here are some of the request we get:
-JDM Forum
-Suspension Forum
-Girl Problems
-Conservative..

lol.. I like the idea but it wont fly with the admins of honda-tech..</TD></TR></TABLE>

exACTLY. "hybrid forum" could use it to make mounts/weld floors shut, "motorcycles" for turbos/exhausts, any of the "Technical Forums" for welding/fabbing in general, any other car "car forums" for ANYTHING. hehe, even "Classifieds" for selling welding equipment! why not!?

Perhaps we should just take over the tech forum... JDM forum.. You gotta be kidding me.. There must be 50-100 posts aday just in FI about building questions. I would imagine the other forums are similar.. Well except maybe the comsetic one..

LOL, so you propose we just start bombarding the Tech forum with Welding posts?

Maybe we should give it some time. Mayeb the mods will change there mind as they see more and more interest.

-Also... do any of you guys know a place to get flanges of all styles and shapes? i need an odd 3 bolt flange for a Porsche exhaust setup and dont really know where to get one, chances are ill have to make it.

This is how I see it:

DIY Forums
- bodywork- help on bodywork and technique
- Metal crafting - welding and machining technique and Q & A
- Machines - Q & A on the types of machines being used
- For sale: - I don't think this should be a place for business to make money by selling their "whole" parts but a place where us DIYer's could maybe buy flanges or collectors while others could advertise their machines or parts like oem body panels and such.

I don't know, maybe my head got a little inflated thinking that we could actually improve on an already great site.

i use a speedglas 9000V and have never had any problems with being flashed, except when it was up. Its also adjustable for differnet materials and processes. Do you have to turn yours on or is it auto?

Is your helmet adjustable ? On the inside it should have different setting.

If we can't get a specific forum together we should all keep posting in one specific forum so we can keep up on each others work and help out. So whats it gona be.....what forum ?

Geoff(Yes full-race Geoff) once told me to go old skool, and ditch the auto-helmets. This one thing improved my welding more than anything else I can think of! Oh ya, thank you for the tip Geoff
