Thanks mate..

I am going to change it a bit.. Im not happy with the gap between the rev counter and the acrylic sheet, as you can see the screens through the gap. So i have a plastic tub (food tub funnily enough), which is exactly the right shape to cut a section from, carpet and install forming a tub in which the rev counter will sit. This will prevent stray light from the rev counter lighting dazzling me and make it look alot neater.

Plus im going to change the way the rev counter mounts, itll be a little better to align once done..

I put what was supposed to be the finishing touches on the display, unfortunately, i dropped a bollock and tore a ribbon cable which is part of the LCD..

The warning lights came and theyre fitted, the RPM gauge is done and im happy with it.. Not happy about breaking the LCD though- pretty pissed actually!

i love all of the work you have done so far, the dash is a great idea, way out side of the box like everything else you have done. The one thing i think could be improved is the carpet on the dash display, it looks awfully rough, have you though about some black microsuede or something similar. it would be nice an matte black, while being a lot smoother looking than the carpet. just a though, here is a whole dash done in the material:

That microsuede actually doesn't look as bad as I thought it was going to when I clicked the link. But being as OCD as I am I don't think I could deal with it, I would always be cleaning it.

Its actually not as bad as the photo makes out- to be honest i didnt realise it looked as bad..

The rough edges are either not finally trimmed or not seen. Alot of the edges you can see are hidden by the plastic fascia.. I was worried about cutting it back too far just in case it ended up pulling up- at least if the plastic over laps it, itll be more hard wearing..

Although i do like the idea of alcantara, im looking into it now.. I think i may end up changing this dash a bit, as im not 100% happy with how the rev counter turned out.. I may end up fitting an aftermarket plain one..

Im not going to rush into it as i may find a few other problems when i start driving it, but the alcantara is something i would like to consider...

I thought i would assemble the dash- to see how it looked.. Obviously as ive not done the screen yet i havnt tidied it up- i think it looks pretty good

After a bit of messing i finally got the actuator system working for the rear wing.. The jittering it is doing is because of a bit of play in the sensor link and the hysteresis not being set..

Man that's a lot of wires you've got there. You've got a lot of stuff to hide away before it's all said and done with.

It looks like you borrowed those warning lights from a piece of British automotive engineering, a MGB (those cars don't run worth a damn). LOL

lol - you are correct there mate- i hate MGBs lol!!

The warning lights do look of that style, like a triumph dolomite lol

I bought them from a kit car parts supplier. They are just basic lights which meet the UK laws for road vehicles..

I dont know why the wires look so bulky there, there are actually the same amount of wires as a normal cluster lol.. It may have 2 screens but it doesnt have a speedo, fuel, temp .etc wiring..

The carpet on the cluster does look much better now that the dash is all put together but I do also think you can make it look better.

No, the wiring I'm talking about is in the video. With all the control modules you have, there is a lot of wiring for those.

And I can't think of one British built car that was ever worth a damn. Jaguar (sucked before Ford bought them), Triumph was terrible, and MG need I say anything. It's ironic however that their are so many great British race car drivers.

Ah sorry lol- i see what you mean.. Its not as bad as it looks, i had to "break out" alot of stuff to get the signals for testing..

I know exactly what you mean, we dont have a fantastic history for cars. Although the aston martin, rolls royce .etc are alright.. Nothing on european cars though lol

I agree with both of your statements, the only British cars that I ever really cared for were the Astons.

Little update for tonight..

In absence of having the VGA to video adapters for the dash, and needing to spend quite alot of time on the software (later on tonight), i thought i would do this;

My favorate switch is the 6 way engine map selector.. This ties in the S300 boost control, as well as the S300's map selector function into an easy to use switch allowing selection of them all easily..

Ive also added the awd map selector for when i build that, the steering assistance adjustment, launch control, datalogger and shift light functions too

Anywho, i decided to fit the steering wheel back to the car.. I added another switch (for resetting the lap timer built into my dash software), and the page UP long toggle switch behind..

Im using 22 core “curly cable”. Itll be connected to the dash and the wheel like the WRC cars, as the steering wheel turns itll wrap the cable around the hub...

I wouldnt say stupid, but this build is definitely one of the most in depth builds I have ever seen.
