Default Window problems

I replaced my broken driver and passenger side windows this weekend (a 96 Civic Ex). The passenger side window is doing fine, but the driver side window keeps slipping out of its front track when the window is lower all the way. There are no adjustments that I can see in installing the windows, just two bolts. Does anybody know anything about windows or has had any similar problems?

yeah, its a bitch

you gotta find out why its popping out of track, make sure the track is clear & straight...

are these electric or manual windows? I think the ex has electric? also check whatever lever is pushing the window up that its not bent.

my front track also had a bolt that you could kind of adjust it with.

Your window are probably power right, so this isn't gonna matter much to ya but just thought i would tell ya anyways. My friend has a 96 DX hatch and his windows kept jumping out of the front track too, so he took it to the dealership and they replaced the regulators for only $500. What a deal huh!!

That is 1/4 what I paid for the car in the first place....I think I'll just remove all the windows for weight savings......

the local machine shop or any repair shop will probably be significantly cheaper. i had a similiar problem as you with a 95 civic EX driver's side window. i took it to a local repair shop, with the door panel off, and everything already there for the mechanic to look at. after about 5 minutes to muscling around and doing his thing, the window slid up and down without a hitch. total cost? 5 dollars for his time.

You can not blame the dealership for your friend's ignorance. I don't know what they charged for labor but window regulators list for about $66 per side. It should not take more than 2 hours to complete the removal and installation of the regulators. Even with an $88 per hour charge you are looking at price around $242 and if you want to throw in extra $50 just for the hell of it, it's still about $200 cheaper than what your friend paid. Also, dealers pay their techs by the hour and charge you one flat rate. You bring in a car to change window regulators and they look up the approximate hours and charge you that much. Either you are exaggerating or your friend really did get ripped off. And if it's the latter, I would raise hell with the dealership. And for the folks that can not spend $66 to buy new regulators, I don't know what to say...
