vtec question
this is a silly question, but im not 100% sure. i read some where that most civic's from '95 to '00 have vtec engines, and my car manual says that my car is supposed to have a vtec engine, but the engine isnt plastered with the ''vtec'' that is on other vtec engines and nowher on my engine does it say, my question was could it be a vtec with out saying it? im pretty sure no , but another opinion would be nice
I dont know D series engine codes. If you look on the stamp and post it someone here will tell you. Also, if on the left side of the motor in front of the disty there is a small thing that looks like a little coffee can with a green plug under it... it would be vtec.
my '97 civic doesn't say vtec either, but just look for the vtec sylenoid it is in the upperleft hand side of the engine right behind the valve cover. and what engine code do you have?

i'm currently running the same motor in my coupe but from your stand point.. why do you think it's a good motor? cuz to me it's ok... and not very strong. but then again it only has i/e only. was ur d16y8 modded?
