valve clearance on 1.6 v-tec
i put a 1995 v-tec 1.6 on my 1998 1.6, set all of the timing marks, turned the engine over by hand 4 revs. then proceeded to start my engine only to here it run for about 2.2 seconds before it bent valves. i rechecked the timing marks and they were on the money. i looked at the old block and noticed there are slightly deeper indents in the v-tec pistons verses the non-v-tec pistons. could that be the reason for the bending of the valves? or was it pilot error and i just did somthing wrong. i have done several head gaskets on these v-tecs, but have never tried to put a v-tec head on a non-v-tec block. i was told it was no problem. please help.....
