Dual vtec solenoid
OK, its sort of an experimental block actually, from my knowledge( read from somewhere ) only around 500 of them ever produced. the VTEC solenoid start giving + electricity at around 2300-3500 rom.., fully open at around 4500-5k rpm.. it also have an EGR valve..which is weird..some other stuff i did forgot..it should be a block that born in 1995

ok i'm not a honda guy but to my knowledge vtec fills a valve with oil to modify the timing by letting the extra lobe get in contact with the valve. so having two solenoids would be useless unless there are two different timing adjustment besides the normal setting that would be activated. am i right?

from my understanding like the single solenoid the dual opened both the exhaust and intake at the same time, but it can be adjusted to let the exaust or intake open later than the other for more power

I came across this site which has an explanation of that motor. here is a link to it:

Much easier than me going on about it.

wouldnt it be cool if there was like fully variable vtec, instead of 2 seperatly sized lobes, one thats sloped, grows bigger gradually as needed, so the valves are always in the optimum operating range. it would add a whole new dimension to tuning i guess.....
I have one of these motors that I'm in the process of swapping right now =]. It's a 96+ japanese d15b. The one vtec solenoid controls the 'vtec-e', which switches the head from 12 to 16 valve operation via a rod in the rockerarms, and the second solenoid controls the vtec we all know about, the one which switches to a more agressive set of intake lobes. This is not done strictly for performance, but more for high gas mileage below ~3000 rpm, and the power (just like any other d16z6 or d15b) above the given rpm. I don't have a pic, but that link above worked for me..

the second solenoid just sit beside the first one. about 5 cm apart, i have seen it in a magazine, but i dont have a scanner
