tranny dismantle probs help!
ok i removed my tranny from the teg and found the clutch cable arm to be seized and i need to open up the tranny to see whats wrong so i can have it fixed.
so i went ahead and removed all the 12mm bolts and they tranny will only seperate about 1.5" or 2" and no further?? am i missing something?
cant find any info here or good posts with pics.
much appreciated thanks.

So I take it you are taking a part the bell housing. There is a C clip you have to pry to open the housing. If you look on the side where the drain bolt is there is a big cap with that will fit your 1/2" drive I believe, that that off and there is a c clip in there. If you don't have the tool use 2 screw drivers while someone else lifts up on the housing. Good luck.
you didn't need to crack the case open to inspect the release arm on a cable tranny.
you could have simply removed the throwout bearing and spring. removed the bolt that holds the release fork onto the shaft and then pulled the release arm out.
now that you've seperated the case you'll need to finish pulling it off so you can reseal it.
make sure you reinstall the 12mm bolts you removed before attempting to remove the 3/8 nut that reveals the c clip.

ahh shiet eda6, i have another tranny im getting from my friend with the occasional grind he said but nothing serious, he has it kicking in his garage he just wants a coffe for it.
but yes i would like to kinda know more about what it is (the method your talking about) for removing it.
so i cant slap it back together and reinstall the 12mm screws and call it a day?
from me doing what i did , did i misalign everything now and have to fully remove everything then put back together?
i would like to do what you said and remove the fork and screw then the shaft arm.
thanks again, sucks that i already removed everything cause if i knew that im sure i could have already fixed it and had it half way back installed on the car. Lol.

hold the release arm in place with one hand and then remove the nut. don't lose the special washer. release arm shaft is ready for removal. the bearing, spring and fork can now come out.

hondabond is used to make a seal. you disturbed the seal. If you choose not to reseal it, don't be surprised if it leaks oil.

the bearings on the shafts and the shift fork shafts act as dowel pins. as long as it goes back together w/o forcing anything you should be fine.
good luck.

well it wouldn't go back together so easy so i fully removed the casing(removing that "C" clip) got it all apart removed the gears and other goodies. removed the bolt on the fork and nothgin comes out. the arm i seized i am gonna take that half of the tranny with me to work tomorrow to see if one of the other mechanics can remove it. inside of the tranny is super clean too and no grinds on the gears bearings and look pretty good aswell.
will update and see where she goes from there i guess. and im gonna most likely paint it while its apart and out.
thanks for all the info guys
