Bell housing back on tranny..
Alright so i had a bad tranny leak, so yesterday i dropped the tranny and took off the bellhousing so i could seal in between with hondabond and put back together. Btw this was my first time ever messing with a transmission. So i put on the hondabond on and went to put the bellhousing and tranny back together, and it seemed to be catching on something. I got it down to where the snap ring needed pulled to fit it all the way and it just wouldnt go down like it was catching on something. In the process of taking off the bell housing many times to try to readjust, a bearing got stuck in the housing. I dont want to pull on it real hard and break something. What can be done?
I appreciate any help. Thanks.

if it sits tight and you just cant get the C clip back in the groove all the way , put a couple bolts to hold tranny halves together , and turn it C clip down , and tap it a couple times on wood or soft floor. lightly. you sure you had the little arm that sits on top of shaft lined up with the groove of the tranny housing it sits in before putting halfs together? make sure you do than try what i said. sometimes they are a pain.

Yes,i tried putting bolts in and tapping it,and in the process one of the bearings got stuck inside its grove in the tranny, and im afraid to pull it out and break something. And yes they really are a pain.

Oh I am in for this response from Bense
The same exact thing happened with my gsr tranny (never before on my d series though). I gave up and had someone else do it.

well, its my experience they wont touch anything that you just bring in - even if its just a knuckle that needs a new ball joint pressed in (that you are picking up from the damn parts counter that day...)
This was true for 2 honda dealers and 1 acura, in my area.
Could possibly just be michigan...but doubtful

Aside from the hondabond that goes between the transmission housing and the clutch housing There are but 4 seals/gaskets that hold oil in the transmission.
1. driver side axle seal
2. passenger side axle seal
3. input shaft bearing seal (it's between the input shaft bearing and the clutch housing)
4. shift rod seal.
for #4 you have to remove the shift linkage and remove the dust cover to see this seal.
6 = driver side axle seal
M6 = shift rod seal
7 = input shaft bearing seal
Good luck.

Thanks, but all i really need to do is pull the bearing from the housing, and but it back on the tranny, then figure out why it isnt fitting back on. Is it safe to tug out the bearing, quite forcefully ill add. ITs in pretty good.

What had the leak was the sealant between the transmission and clutch housings,so i took them apart and went to reseal with hondabond. Tranny wouldnt fit right back together, tapped it on alittle and bearing got stuck in the housing.

did you put blocks of wood between the bell housing and the workbench/floor/whatever to keep the mainshaft from lifting up?

when I was trying to put min together, I had it elevated. There was about 1/2" of space where it would just not drop any further - circlip was still loose
