ticking noise??
i'm getting a loud ticking noise from the motor, anyone know what it is? the car only got about 8500 miles on it. alot of people told me it's the valves, but when i told the acura shop they were surprise to hear this and think that it might be the injectors. could an aftermaket fuel reg. cuase this problem with a higher fuel psi then stock? i check the injectors and they seem fine and don't feel any air leak coming out from them. do i need a valve adjustment?? or is it something esle? almost ever here i know with v-tec motors got a ticking noise but my is the loudest one and also with less miles. is this something normal for v-tec motors?
ok first, its vtec. no - . people will flame you for that.
and the injectors?? if your curious put your stock FPR back on and see but ive never heard of that problem.
what kind of motor is in your car? if its a b series motor there somewhat loud even when the valves are adjusted. guess it comes with the teritory

this is a type R b18c5 motor and i didn't think it was the injectors eithier. the ticking noise started before i even swap the fuel reg. but now it seems to be louder then before.
i even had a friends look at it and he said it's not the valves eithier. he been a menchanic for 7-8+ years now and is a teacher teaching mechanic at a tech school. so i trust he. but i can't seem to figure it out if not the valves. he told me he's not sure of what the problems is because he hasn't been around v-tec motors but he knows for sure it's not the vavles.
was he just physically inspecting it? why not do a valve adjustment to start up.

has a how-to. you have to use factory specs off your service manual. if it's not the valves, then i'd check for bad injectors.

well put a stethascoupe up to the injectors to see if thats the problem. But it still sounds like valve noise to me. Does it sound like a light metalic tapping or just a clicking. clicking=injectors. tapping is valve noise.
i just got it check out and they say thats it's the injectors i'm hearing and alos did a valve check just to make sure it wasn't the valves. they told they did a valve adjustment on it but it's still sound the same so i guess it's the injectors. could this be cause by setting the fuel reg. too high for the injectors to sound like this? how do you know when the injectors are bad? i mean it wasn't like this when i bought the car and they told me it sounds normal and they don't hear anything wrong.
I had a noise like that on my Volvo, and it was a clicking injector. I used a stethoscope to pinpoint which one it was, and replaced it. The click went away.
I've found that a mechanic's stethoscope is real handy for finding where a noise is coming from. A lot easier than just changing everything under the hood to get one squeak or click.
