bad engine noise

Default bad engine noise

ok so i noticed there was a tick tick noise in my engine quite awhile ago more than normal from when i first got it at 65,000 miles. so people always said injectors injectors injectors!!! but after tonight i did a valve adjustment .007 on intake and .008 on exhaust side and the knock got louder! this is gay and proves its not injectors so what would cause a loud knocking noise more than normal. bent valve? bad rocker arm? retainer i have no idea.

is it ticking constantly or at certain RPM's only? could be valves...spun rod bearing...

its constant like tic...tic...tic... almost sounds like the same distance between each tic hard to tell exactly though, could a compression test help further examine the problem?

i doubt that it's a bent valve or anything like that. i would double check you valve lash. check your lost motion assemblies if it has vtec.

if its a bent valve your car would run like shyt...try adjusting your valves again

Did you perform the valve adjustment while the head was cold? Also, depending on your technique, you may not be at .007 and .008" like you think.

yea if its not dead cold when you did it do it again and check your lma's push down on them to make sure they spring down smooth and sometimes when you tighten the screw on the valve it moves a bit and so you wont be at .7 or .8 like you think use the coorect tool and do it over again.
