what is the common practice when storing motors for extended periods?

place motor on pallet or old tire, drain all fluids, plug any access holes like coolant lines, throttle body, header or exhaust ports if no header, etc. then throw a tarp over it.

thats kinda exessive if he is storing for less then a year

if it is anextended period of time ,dont forget to back off the valves to save the springs.

put a teespoon of oil in the sparkplug holes... with out the plugs in there... to prevent anytype of corrosion

Thanks for all the advice.

The motors will be stored indefinitely (backups) for now. I was mainly concerned with rust forming on the cylinders.
