dented header and open NA exhaust causing misfire
I just swapped in a b18b and my exhaust is not properly bolted up, until I get some exhaust work done. The DC 4-2-1 one is dented prettly badly on one of the runners. Basically the flange is too big for the stock b-pipe.
It bogs real bad and I can tell it's misfiring at low rpms and part throttle, but feels fine at full throttle and sometime it throws random codes 73 & 74, which are misfire codes. I'm thinking it's the exhaust causing this, I just want to know if anyone can confirm it.
Since I've bolted the header so it doesn't seperate anymore it is alot better but still misfires, which is why I think it's the header.

Re: dented header and open NA exhaust causing misfire (EKRacer)
the dent will only cause the motor to flow restrictively... never misfire(atleast from my expeirence).... my buddy had that misfiring thing a while ago and it was the spark plug wires, but in your case its fine in the higher RPM's... i still say check the wires if you havent already...

Excesive back pressure can cause some reversion, which can actually get back into the combustion chambers, which can lead to either a "dead" cylinder or a lean condition.
Otherwise, check your spark plugs (make sure they're gapped correctly), check the wires for any loose connection/worn insulation/etc.

I also have not yet properly set the ignition timing, if that has anything to do with it.
