my ls vtec was running nice and i turned it off, i went to start it back and nuttn. so i put a new battery in it and it still wont start. so i taped the starter with a hammer and its does nuttn alll the car does is it will click very softly some times and doesnt do **** the other times

 

 

Sounds like it to me. Had the same problem about a month and a half ago.

Check all your grounds in the engine room. Make sure they are hooked up right and not corroded. When I got the valves adjusted on my civic, the guys reinstalled the engine ground to the valve cover incorrectly, and the starter acted like it was dead. They also found corrosion on the battery terminals. Worked fine after fixing the grounds and cleaning the terminals. If that is not it, it is probably the starter. Start with the cheap fix (ground check) before jumping into the starter. Good luck!
