Default Starter problem...

i have a hard time starting up my car. i took the starter off and checked it at autozone and i passed. it still clicks when i turn the key. this started to happen when i put my system in. i do have a cap and i still have problems starting it up. any ideas?

I had the exact same issue. After a couple of weeks of hunting, i went with my cheapest option first........ I replaced every possible ground to my engine, but instead of grounding say the starter to the car, i grounded it too the battery. Made my self a little ghetto earth grounding kit set up. problem solved no more intermitent starts. haven't had the issue for 4 years now.

^^yeah, check you grounds! especially the one on the transmission.

because on many components (like your starter) only the 'hot' side is wired. the ground completes the circuit. since your starter is giving you problems, i recommend checking the transmission ground first.

i did...i took it off and cleaned it...still having the problem. took the battery to autozone they said the battery is good.

dis-connect or pull out the fuse for your system and see if that helps it start.

disconnected the fuse and still having the same problem...arrgggh any other ideas?
