Haha I have the same problem. Some have told me it's the speed sensor, but that would cause a CEL and I don't have one so it's still a mystery to me.

If it doesn't always do it, is it still the speed sensor?? Would it still work occasionally if the unit is bad??

You have an electronic VSS correct... sorry I don't work on 2G Tegs that often but it's 92 so I would think it would be... If so check the tranny ground, a bad motor/tranny ground could cause it to fluctuate irratically... It could be a problem in the VSS but i doubt it... I've never personally seen one go bad but i'm sure that it could happen... If I'm totally wrong and you have a mechanical VSS with a cable driven speedo such as on the older 2G Tegs then I would check the cable... Make sure it still turns freely... If this is the case then perhaps one end has come undone or isn't in tight... (check the end that goes into the VSS itself and where it connects to the back of the cluster) Hope this helps, good luck

Thanks!! That was awesome advice. I'll make sure I check it out or have it checked out.
