Default Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) - Problems

I am having problems with a very sensitive vehicle speed sensor. I am not sure exactly how the sensor works or is located, or what can go wrong with it....this is what I hope to learn from this thread. But the problem I am having is that anytime I get wheelspin or hard jerking on the car, such as spinning into 2nd or 3rd, etc....my speedometer will "shut down" and the needle will hang limp and cease operation. The tach works fine. But, then after a while, the speedometer will fix itself and continue working correctly. It seems like this problem is getting more and more sensitive. I have gotten a CEL when this has happened before and it gave me the Vehicle Speed Sensor code btw.

Please help me diagnose this problem! Is the sensor just simply loose or something, and is it just succeptible to the shock of hard driving, thus creating this problem?

it sounds like a loose connection
the VSS is located on the rear half of the transmission, top side
its a big grey plug you cant miss it.

and this would be the same on an H22A motor? Do you think I should check its connection?

I had this exact problem. Mine finally broke completely. If you take the sensor off there will be three prongs that you can see inside the socket thingy. Get some electrical cleaner and spray the hell out of it, make sure to check that all the prongs are still sturdy. If they are not, then go to a junk yard and buy a new speed sensor, probably like 70 dollars. That is what I had to do. My VTEC didnt work, as you might be experiencing this as well. But either way it is a relatively cheap fix, hopes this helps
