sleeves or stock block
i want to build a b18 block to be able to hold 15 psi the most on stock compression je pistons and rods...will i need to sleeve or add a block guard..i need help here i dunno what to do ..
Ive heard people doing crazy things of runing high boost on Hondas.(with some outstanding tuning)..but to be on the safe side sleeve it if you can.....my opinion.
i would sleeve it but dam thats alot of extra money its more or less a grand more for sleeves installed ...i really dont know any one that has cracked stock sleeves around this boost

you need to tell us more about which turbo your using, the psi level doesnt mean anything. Some t3;s will do 200whp at that psi level and a big t4 is able to pull 350+whp at same psi level depending on its size. I made 480whp on stock sleeves, piston and rods. I believe last time i was at Inlinepro, i saw a dyno sheet with over 500whp on stock sleeves.
In my opinion for your setup the stock sleeves+ forged pistons and rods will do. good luck!

Bad idea IMO.
People make up to 600 whp on stock sleeves.
It is all about proper tuning

Hey guys I'm new to the forum and was checking out your post from my experience you should go with sleeves everything I've seen making power on boost with the stock set up has either wound up cracked over time or with cyl damage from lack of support we are the only shop in Florida to machine and install the sleeves and blue print the entire block back to factory tolerences and it's all done in house our web site is http://www.mesabalancing.com
and you can check out the work on the site if you guys have any questions or need help feel free to contact us any time good luck in your decision.

What tunning do you have in hand...what ecu..injectors and fuel set up... YOu can run that but you need some good tuning... NOw if you had sleeves you can run on basemap tuning with vfac..wideband... The price you pay for the things to tune and the tunning is more than the sleevin...in my opinion..but my opinion you need to have good tunning either way if you want stability..but as every tuner knows there is no stability for long periods of time...in my opinion
all the hondas that ive seen doing 350+ hp are running sleeved blocks. i have a b16 ive been wrking on for a while that im gonna try to do over 350 with a block guard instead of sleeves though. itll probably hold it but i dnt know for how lng if tuned right.
well ima use a t3/t4 and really aint looking for nothin over 350 to 400 hp to the wheel...this is max...so i guess wasting tons of cash on sleeves aint worth it unless u wanna do some crazy numbers at the dyno
Sorry to jack the thread...
I have a 99 si with a drag kit.. I believe just the 57 trim
255lph walboro
440cc RC injectors
Hondata
Endyn 8.8:1 pistons
Shot Peened stock rods
ARP rods bolts
ARP head studs
Adjustable cam gears
No sleeves and no blockguard (cars run hot in AZ)
stock head
My question is what kind of power and boost levels would you reccomend on this setup..(on a good tune of course).. Im not looking to make 320hp for 2 months and then crack the sleeves.. Safe #'s that will last me a while is what I am looking for...
Thanks for the help

i wouldnt even push it that high on stock sleeves, id say under 5 even around 4 is safe. but it really comes down to the tune. if u got a really good tune youll be fine but i sleeved cuz i plann on over 600wheel and feel safe plus i want to increase my bore size

"XX psi" has zero relation to sleeve failure. Please do some research. http://www.boosted-hybrid.com has some very infomative threads.
