Default Setting timing?

trying to set my timing to stock 16º on my gsr but im getting mixed answers. does it need to be at the white or red on the crank pulley?

also on cspeeds site it shows theres 3 colors but i only see white and red no green?

if you use a light that is adjustable use the white mark, if using a non adjustable light use the red mark.

im using this gun http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr...23000

i have the gun set at 16º and can only see the red and white marks. some one said that the paint might be rubbed off

just align it with the white mark to the pointer, and gun set to 16* and you should be set, don't forget to jump the service connector

yeah i jumped it whenever i tried set the timing.

ok so i looked and the red is in the middle of the group of 3 and the white is still where it supposed to be, like an inch away from the others.

so with the adjustable timing light, i can just line up the white one to the marking on the cover and set the light to 16º and it'll be good?

i was wondering the same thing when i was installing a timing belt , so when i set up my cam timing i should be using the 0btc marked lined up with the pointer on the block

and

ignition timing should be set at 16btc with a timing light with the service jumper bridged

You have to also jump the service connecter on the ECU, or else when you change the timing the cars computer will reset it...

service connector on the ecu - 2 pin blue connector below the passengers footwell.?!

ok , and the cambelt side , the obtc has to line up against the mark on the lower timing cover right ..!"
