timing mark
I guessing your talking about the marks on the flywheel? The white one is the TDC mark and the red is your 15deg BTDC mark. If your setting your cam/crank timming the white one is the one you want to use. If your checking your ignition timming via timming light, the red one will be the one to use.
So I have a 92 civic, car won't start. I checked for spark and fuel and they are good. Now, I opened up the upper timming belt cover and line up the cams with the two marks alined to the valve cover and there is a pointer on the lower timming belt cover. Now, is that pointer suppose to line up with the red mark or the white mark? cuz I'm just checking if I'm off timming.

Is there a corresponding mark on the block to line the white mark up with to know your dead on ?
Why the hell in the manual does it say there is a mark on the oil pump ?

On the other end of the motor, the mark is on the timing gear which is behind the crank and balancer pulley's. A corresponding mark for it is on the oil pump housing.
