Default Running a cooler thermostat...

Are there any advantages to running a cooler degree thermostat on a B18A.. like a 170 degree one? My engine is mainly stock.. just want my engine to run a lil bit cooler.

If it's alright to run a 170 degree thermostat, do I have to change out the ECT switch as well or leave it as is?
