Default purging cooling system

just replaced head,water pump,timing belt,and gaskets.
I can't seem to get the cooling system to bleed all the air out? I just get steam coming from the bleeder valve. Also steam from the overflow tube if i pull it out of the bottle. Also the Fan wont kick on when it get into the red on the gauge.I have about 1.5 gallons of 50/50 antifreeze in it now.The most i get is a couple squirts of green out of the bleeder never a stream of coolant. 93 honda civic with a 1.6,a/c 5 speed

try letting the car idle for about 15min with the rad cap off....keep an eye on the bubbles that arise from the rad filler hole too while its idling.

Also turn your heater on set your climate control to HOT.
