problem with rpm's not going higher then 3500
hey guys, i just helped do an engine swap in a "94 hatchback. we went from a D15B8 to a D16Z6. we wired the ecu for the VTEC and now the RPM"S wont go higher then 3500. How do i fix this, and need to know right away, because we are doing this right now. thanks guys gloria
Hey babe, Hope you get a couple of hits on this one. Hope you get some leadway on this ride today. HEy, guys please help us fix this prob...Spyderman
hey, girl yeah, the codes where 16 and 22, I wasn't there when they finished. I came home right at the end. Anyway hit Gloria up and see if my baby can give you any more info...Later Spyderman
hmmm fuel injector system and vtec oil pressure switch.....
fuel injector code, check your wiring to the ecu
by the way how many miles does this engine have? it could be low oil pressure, do you know if the oil pump is new? could also be clogged....

also is there a oil pressure light? check the conections of the solenoid and on the oil pressure switch, also check the continuity of those two also.....
Check for continuity between the blu/blk wire at the VTEC PS plug and the appropriate pin at the ECU plug.
for the z6 engine the ecu pin would be D6

This is a 30K motor, and we had to hard wire the v-tec to the ecu. But everything was done right. I think everything went bad when my friend used JB Weld to hold the wire in the harness. And he got some in other wire sockets. Since JB in steel and hardener I'm thinkin he may have arced across other wires thus causing other problems. Like I said Gloria and Issac finished the job and I came in at the end. She will have more info...Spyderman

Yeah, Gloria looked all the wire placements a web site and that was one of them. Hopefully this is not a major problem. anyway say hello to my baby for me...Spyderman.
ok guys here is the down low...we had wired the ecu for the VTEC, and yes we used glue at first then the A4 wire kept coming out so he used JBquick weld and it did spred to four other nieghbor wires. the codes we got were 16 which is the fuel injecter code and 21 which is the variable valve timing and vavle lift solenoid code. and it still wont let the car rev higher then 3500 RPM. so any help would be much appreciated. hopefully the ecu isn't fried!
did you check the fuel injector itself. was one of the wires JB'ed a fuel inj wire? If so then that would cause it to rev limit early. Also is it hitting a rev limiter or just breaking up past 3500rpm?
hey guys just an update, 1_bad_ef was right, it was a fuel injecter wire that got messed up probably when it was JB welded, so good call man! anyway thanks to all that responded, catch you guys later...gloria
