Default Prelude JRSC Problems

To all techs:

We're stumped on this one. Jackson Racing Blower on 97 non-SH Prelude. Installation is complete and all vacuum is hooked up correctly. Car responds beautifully at part throttle, but at TP higher than approx. 30% the car falls on its face. It has all the symptoms of a timing problem and playing with the Boost Retard **** that came with the kit helps, but the car still does not act right.

Has anyone else had this problem or knows how to fix it.

BTW we think its timing because it acts like a turbo car with no check valve for the MAP sensor. HOWEVER, this car does not see boost until AFTER the throttle body, so it cannot be the MAP sensor acting up under pressure.

Thanks for your help!

Check all of the connections and also check your fuel pressure. Sounds like you might be running to rich/lean so it bogs during boost. Is the check engine light coming on? If so what code?

instaleld properly, the prelude jrsc DOES see boost at the map sensor, and it should. if you didn't install the map sensor relocation bracket (which blocks off the stock hole in the tb for the sensor and instead feeds it from a vacuum line routed from the s/c manifold) you will get very strange bogging, much as you've described. i had this problem recently too.

if the map relocator is installed correctly, make sure that the map circuit is connected properly through the jr ems, which has a built in map limiter.

Hey thanks for the feedback. One question: How does the MAP see boost if it is installed before the charger unit? You're right though, we did NOT install that MAP relocator which blocks off the port.

So you are sure it is a MAP problem?

it drives truly like crap without that adaptor. if you take a closer look at it (and the instructions!!!) it blocks off the normal map port on the throttle body but has a nipple on it. you connect a hose from the s/c manifold to the map relocator plate. you will see a world of difference.
