Default Plug gap & Crane ignition... Big gap or little gap?

Just finished putting in my Crane HI-6 ignition with the sweet LX92 coil... Question is, do I leave my plug gap at 0.028" or widen it back out to 0.040" or so? I've read in different places that bigger is better, smaller is better, medium is better...

I do recall seeing a picture from my auto class textbook that 500-mile racers (read: NASCAR races) gap them to 0.025" and the grounding electrode was clipped (about halfway across the non-ground electrode).

So what's the word everyone?

The reason for clipping the ground strap is to shorten its length ro reduce increase heat transfer away from it. They clip it half way and bend it forward to set the gap.

I recommend stock gap. 1.1mm. You have an aftermarket ignition so you dont have to half *** it. Keep it stock. Engineers came up with those numbers.
