P1298 fault code (ELD) running very rough K swap EG
Hi all
Since fitting my K20 I've done about 12, 000 miles of trouble free motoring but recently I've got my first problem.
I got a cel light on the dash randomly and the car just instantly started playing up. It's idling up and down and hesitating very badly in the low rpm. Kind of like a very severe misfire but much worse. Seems to be fine once above 3000rpm though. It is also doing the fault at wide open throttle under 3000 rpm which makes me think it can't be a lambda fault?
I've plugged the computer in and have got the fault codes pictured below:
P1298
P0600
P0141
As far as I remember the lambda 2 fault code has always been there as has the serial cable one. The P1298 one however is definitely new.
My car is running a stock K20A2 (UK civic Type R engine)
Stock PRB ecu (with immobiliser delete)
Lambda 1 is wired up and working fine (still giving the readings on the computer whilst plugged in anyhow)
After having a search round on the net I found P1298 is ELD and it can be alternator/battery related. I've recently fitted a brand new battery but what I've noticed is my alternator casing has a crack right the way across it. Never noticed it before but it does look to be old and not have happened recently. Could this fault be down to a dodgy alternator? I will replace it if need be but funds are tight at the minute so I want to make sure first?
Thanks in advance ppl and any help will be massively appreciated.

Oh and another thing I found was that the ELD on a EP3 can be replaced as it's a part which fits into the fuse box on a EP3 but obviously my EG doesn't have this part? lol.

Anybody? I'm really starting to think it's a alternator problem now as it is charging my battery but with the multimeter on the batttery whilst running the voltage seems to go up and down quite madly. Between 10v and 14.4v. Sometimes it'll drop lower than 10v. But I guess this could be normal too?

So I replaced the alternator with a much better condition one. Still have the same issue and also cleared the fault codes with the computer, P1298 ELD came straight back after 2 seconds!
Wish I had the money for K pro as I could just disable ELD? LOL.
